Jehovah's Witness Magazine Under Fire For Claiming Defectors Are 'Mentally Diseased'

English police are investigating whether a Jehovah's Witness magazine violated the country's religious hatred laws.

The July edition of the monthly publication Watchtower warned readers not to follow "false teachers" who may be "mentally diseased," The Telegraph reported. Part of the passage at issue reads:

"Suppose that a doctor told you to avoid contact with someone who is infected with a contagious, deadly disease. You would know what the doctor means, and you would strictly heed his warning. Well, apostates are 'mentally diseased', and they seek to infect others with their disloyal teachings."

1. Since 1981 the Watchtower Society has said and continues to say

with some threat of law suit that you must not eat with a disfellowshiped person/ Not even if they are part of your family i.e., children, parents etc. That they are considered "dead roots" of a tree. That you are not to speak to them of spiritual things. They are a cult plane and simple. They have totally brainwashed their congregations and you will not find a lawyer, doctor or any other college educated among them except for those in the Brooklyn Society who run things. They do not want anyone talking to one who is disfellowship especially one who talks about believing different or questioning beliefs as they are labled an apostate. This is definite and this caused great damange to my family. The ones at the door are to be looked at as slaves of a billion dollar organization who says they take no money. Yet they do and they have their congregations build their buildings which they sell later at a profit. All free labor to make sure they don't go down at Armegeddon. Sickening. How do I know I was one for 10 years and my husband was one for 20 years and his two daughters who are old maids are still brainwashed. It's been 30 years since I left (trying to study the bible in hope my first husband would straighten out...what a crock) and they are not family oriented as they try to say they are. They are a cult and there are six things I saw that states what a cult is. Don't know where that article is but they fit all 6. One of them was those who do not want to belong any longer are shunned even by family members and because they are told they are not part of the world or are with Satan the people that leave have no support system. That is how they keep them. Disgusting tactics! It's a technique of what I call black mail to keep you abiding by their fear based crap. They are the chosen and know the truth and only they are one's in God's favor...boy are they in for a surprise.

disfellowshiped from society. But they will never believe that because the technique's are very good especially when someone is vunerable i.e., bad marriage, drugs, a death in family etc.

4. My next-door neighbor, a loyal JW,

is a close friend of mine. She knows I'm an atheist and doesn't preach at me. We don't discuss religion. We have good visits and have lots of fun talking about other stuff. Her husband and mine are also friends, and they too get along well with each other. They don't treat us as if we have contagious deadly diseases - but as good friends.

It's kind of amazing, I think.
