During the last Presidential election cycle, when John McCain was praising Rev. Parsley, I wrote an article Should McCain Reject and Denounce Minister Rod Parsley? in which I noted that
Rod Parsley published a book in 2005 Silent No More which includes a chapter (chapter 5) titled “Islam: The Deception of Allah.” In that book Parsley says: “I cannot tell you how important it is that we understand the true nature of Islam, that we see it for what it really is. In fact, I will tell you this: I do not believe our country can truly fulfill its divine purpose until we understand our historical conflict with Islam. I know that this statement sounds extreme, but I do not shrink from its implications. The fact is that America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed, and I believe September 11, 2001, was a generational call to arms that we can no longer ignore.” In this book Parsley made further claims that can only be seen as hate speech.
In our collection of bigoted anti-Muslim statements by Christian clergy and religious leaders, this is the entry on Rod Parsley
Pastor Rod Parsley said about Islam: “I do not believe that our country can truly fulfill its divine purpose until we understand America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed.” 2006.
- Parsley decries the ‘‘spiritual desperation’’ of America’s civil libertarians who advocate the separation of church and state, and identifies Islam as an ‘‘anti-Christ religion’’ predicated on ‘‘deception.’’ He says that “Muhammad received revelations from demons and not from the true God.’’
- Parsley says, ‘‘The fact is that America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed. ‘‘Jihad has come to America. If we lose the war to Islamic fascism, it will change the world as we know it. . . . It’s here. . . . They are waiting to respond as terrorist cells against this nation. It is a war between the culture of death and the culture of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. . . . Radical sects, which include about 200 million Islamics, believe they have a command from God to kill Christians and Jews, he said. . . . ‘‘Our crisis is that half of America doesn’t know the war has started,’’
- Parsley refers to the early Islamic empire as “Satan’s Mohammedan kingdom.”
