Regarding translations and transliteration.

Fortunately, in Polish we don't have such a problem because of common language group for Polish (West Slavian) and Russian (East Slavian).

In both of them the correct name for Greek god of fear is Fobos (F equals letter and sound like Greek Φ, and ф in Russian!). We also both use noun "grunt" to describe a top/upper layer of soil or ground or contact area between building and ground.

Thanks to all contributors of this topic, by the way.

1. We used the word "groot" with our three daughters.
We never had the problem of a child yelling "MOMMY! I WANT BOOBIE!"

2. Did you mean to post this in R/T?
Kind of off-topic, don't you think?

4. Yes, I meant to post this in R/T.
At the surface level,
Phobos = Fobos = God of Fear,
making it de facto relevant to R/T.

At a deeper level, we notice that "surface level" = "topsoil" = "grunt",
the very name of the Fobos/Grunt probe.

And we have barely scraped the surface ...

5. There's an old saying...
attributed to Robert Anton Wilson...
that all our religions, sciences, philosophies,
all our culture and understanding and knowledge,
all our hopes and dreams and wishes,
are based on six inches of topsoil and the fact that it rains.

of the landscape,"You can photograph it, you can map it, you can look at it, you can read about it - but the best way to understand it is to walk on it".
