Newt Gingrich: Left Attempting To ‘Drive Out Of Existence’ Traditional Religion
Edited on Sat Nov-19-11 07:01 PM by MarkCharles
" Much of the first half of Saturday’s Mitt Romney-less social conservative debate here was focused on the problems Christians face in modern society.

They can’t preach politics from the pulpit, Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain said. They can’t keep potential adoptees out of same sex families, all agreed. But it’s Newt Gingrich who most starkly stated the uphill climb America’s Christians are facing these days."

"I think that we need to be very aggressive and very direct. The degree to which the left is prepared to impose intolerance and to drive out of existence traditional religion is a mortal threat to our civilization and deserves to be taken head on and described as what it is which the use of government to repress the American people against their own values. "

Oh, Newt, you SO REPRESENT all those religious fascists so well.

6. These Republican debates remind me of William Burroughs fable
about the man who taught his asshole to talk.

8. Haven't read much of William Burroughs.......but at least I know
who he is.

Sounds good to me to quote him on this thread.

And to think, an out and out liar, cheat and con artist like Newt could become our next President, making sure all leftists are made into Communist Atheists,(Father Humblebum will be so happy to hear that he's an Atheist because he supports Democrats.)

7. As much as I believe the people of the world would be better off without
ANY religion, I would never be so bold as to take the religious security blanket away from everybody!

10. Many of those posts appear, almost verbatim, on sites we're not allowed to link to.
My point is that I think they were already comfortable with his company.

11. I don't believe Newt's 'conversion' to Catholicism
Edited on Sat Nov-19-11 07:51 PM by Mimosa
I think it is a Republican tactic to spread their anti-abortion message based on religious authority as well as to attempt to appeal to the Hispanic voters who are largely Catholic. In no way is Gingrich a spiritual man.

Plus, fake converts like Gingrich may be attempting to infiltrate the catholic Church in order to undermine their social justice teachings.

FAKE everything.

has sunk in the polls.

First it was Bachmann, then Perry, soon to be Newt.

They don't realize that most moderate/independent voters, even many Republicans, are turned off by their God-bothering bullshit.

14. "Traditional religion" - you mean the kind that murdered millions of nonmembers
over the past 5 thousand years??

Damned right we're trying to drive that out of existence, Newtie.

15. I don't think that the "left" is trying to drive religion out. But, it might
not be such a bad idea. nt

16. Yes, come to think of it. Driving religion out of government would be
an improvement.
