What is best word for hypocritical Christian?

I've never had much interest in religion so cant quite remember the term for a hypocritical Christian; for example, somebody that makes a huge deal of something like abortion but then worships the the rich and spits on the poor. Is it Phillistine or pious or....

Personally, since 2008, I have tended to refer to the attitude as 'Palinism' - as in: 'He's very religious but definitely not a Palinite'; 'All I ever needed to make my life complete was Palinism right in my backyard' (with intense sarcasm after a local political nightmare in 2010); etc.

At least that's what I call my brother, the most hypocritical born again "christian" I've ever seen. I think he sees religion as a "get out of jail free" card for all the monumental fuck-ups he's committed in his 43 years on the planet. He may be "forgiven" by his imaginary angry daddy in the sky, but the scores of people he's screwed over on earth aren't quite so forgiving.

I am sometimes amazed at how ignorant self-proclaimed Christians can be about their own religion. A recent LTTE in the Columbus Dispatch from a rural Christian decried the use of "Xmas", proclaiming that "X'ing out Christ" is a terrible insult and an affront to Christians everywhere (remember, they are always, always helpless victims).

As subsequent LTTEs clarified (and as I, a non-Christian, already knew), the "X" in "Xmas" is actually the Greek letter chi. The abbreviation has been in use for centuries within the Christian Church as part of a holy monogram representing Christ. (The whole monogram is chi-rho, which looks like "Xp" to us.) The concept of "X'ing something out" is a modern one and has nothing whatever to do with "Xmas". Yet here was this Fox-addled zealot ranting about the non-existent "War on Christians" in MY newspaper! Good God. Spare us.

There is a fair bit of hypocrisy in most of us.

But the particular phenomenon of obsession with abortion and homosexuality, while worshipping Mammon and being nasty to other people, sometimes combined with using religion for personal political or financial advantage, seems to apply only to a rather specific set of Christians.

One can be anti-abortion and anti-poor at the same time. So, I don't think that's hypocritical.
