can't risk offending the religious lobby over emergency contraception
It's disappointing to see the Obama administration ignore science for fear of offending the religious lobby. The result? More unplanned pregnancies for both teens and adults.

1. Don't think so.

This is about young girls, NOT teens and adults. 'younger teens and preteens'

Hate to see everyone jumping to unwarranted conclusions; serves no one.

4. A sixteen year old is a "teen"..
As is a thirteen year old.

Neither will be able to purchase plan B without a prescription.

6. They should write the rule less broadly,
but unfortunately the devil is always in the details.

10. The regulators did write the rules more broadly.
The politicians narrowed the rules for political reasons.

8. How is 'under seventeen' "NOT Teens"?
Or, as my ex-father in law used to say " If she's old enough to bleed, She's old enough to breed".
For some girls this starts at 11 or 12 years old. Read some of the stories about how prevalent rape is and how little choice there is for a girl.

9. Rape victims should have all resources available,
encouraged by society as a whole.

5. I'm getting to where I can predict these things.
If he's at a fork in the road, he never takes the one I'm hoping. I'm not talking rainbows and ponies. I mean everything.

7. I doubt that was the reason the decision was made to keep
the moiring after pill from access to those under 18. My guess is that Obama has two young daughters and doesn't want to see THEM, or any others their ages, participating in sex. I admit I'm old,. but I have a 14 YO granddaughter who I don't want experimenting with sex either, and I think making the morning after pill afailable OTC to those under 18 puts your stamp af approval on that activity.

11. Are people really this blind and selfish?
Edited on Sat Dec-10-11 06:07 PM by Humanist_Activist
I really want to know, so you want to forbid your daughter from having sex, but failing that, hope she pays the consequences of having sex (pregnancy, stds) because you have your own hangups about it? How fucked up as a parent are you?

13. Does he want them participating in teenage pregnancy ?
There's this notion perpetuated by the RRRW, and sadly accepted by some on the left, that teaching kids facts about sex and birth control turns them into raging sluts. "Abstinence only" birth control, which works on the notion that you tell kids not to have sex, and tell them nothing of birth control outside of failure rates (and maybe some lies about how "condoms spread disease" and "the pill kills") has been proven a colossal failure.

The fact is that teens have sex. Whether or not their parents want them to. Making it difficult or impossible for them to protect themselves does nothing to prevent this, and only endangers them.
