The forgotten battle against Christianity!
Mercury
Venus
Mars
Jupiter
Saturn
Uranus
Neptune
Pluto

Why hasn't our government led the way to renaming the planets after good, Judeo-Christian names, like the Apostles?

I tell you, it's an outrage!!!

;)

3. 11, really
Weren't two of the Apostles named the same? Peter?

And why would we want to name one of the planets Judas?

Now, all American schoolkids know the 9 main planets, and there's another that's being debated at this time.

So, you have 11 distinct names, and one you don't want to use . . . that leaves 10.

15. Ha, ha, ha, so should I
I'm not sure . . . I just remember that there were two apostles who were named alike, and distiguished by the fact that one was a fisherman . . .

So I may have the wrong apostle . . .

16. I'm embarrassed to say I had to go look on Google
you'd think I'd know them by heart. Peter had another name: Simon. He was Andrew's brother. I also learned that after Judas died they wanted to even back up to 12, so they added Mathias.

7. they're working on that one. They're doing "mountain top removal"
in West Virginia, where they shear the tops off mountains to explose coal seams, then fill in the valleys with the "overburden".

10. What about the Days of the Week:
Edited on Mon Mar-27-06 08:12 AM by happyslug
The Sun god Day
The Moon god Day
Tues Day (Tues was German God)
Wooden's Day (Wooden or Orden was the German Chief God)
Thor's Day (Thor was the Germanic God of War)
Frigga's Day (Frigga was the Germanic Goddess of the Earth)
Saturn's Day (Named after the Roman God Saturn, the Germans only had a five day week, Saturn's and the Sun's day was added to the Five Day week to get to get to the Seven Day week. The Ancient Romans used a 14 day "week").

And lets eliminate those Months Named after a God, Janus's Month, Feb's Month, Mar's Month, Maius's Month and Juno's Month (June). While we at it lets renamed the two months named after Roman Emperors (July named after Julius Caesar, and Augustus named after Octavian, i.e. Augustus Caesar) and renamed the Seventh Month (September) to be the Ninth Month which is is, Renamed the Eight Month (October) to be the tenth Month (Which it is) renamed the Ninth Month November) to be the Ninth Month which it is, and renamed the Tenth Month (December) to the Twelfth month which it is. This wrong numbering is all Julius Caesar's Fault, when he January the First Month instead of March.

Please Note,. the Early and Medieval Christians did not think the names of the above was worth changing,, but they had real faith not faith carried on their sleeve.

11. The war on Christianity is over
And was won a long time ago by the anti-Christian side.
And that is why present day Christians do not follow the teachings of Jesus, and in fact do the opposite of what he taught.
(examples are numerous and provided only on request)

21. Nutjobs will be at it soon, if they ever figure it out.
They're too dense and uneducated to even realise the origins of the planet names (and names of several of the months, and names of the days of the week).

23. One of their whackjob leaders will have to tell them to get outraged
Otherwise they'll never even notice. They'll just keep blithely clamoring over gays, "Intelligent" Design and abortion.
