Is the attack on Liberal thought by many Christians and most Republicans
The real undermining influence of the United States? Was this what led up to the overwhelming support of Bush in his warmongering, destruction of the safety nets, attempts to destroy Social Security, pushing for a flat tax and being even willing to drive the nations indebtedness beyond functionality. In my opinion the whole policy agenda was and is insanity.

3. it's all about hastening power.
many, many of those who preach the rapture don't believe in it.

it's not biblical -- except as a stretch -- any way.

so they're just appealing to folk who are terrified of modernity and the other.

2. Bush played upon fear and prejudice
couple this with an unholy alliance with certain churches, and you get people who don't see beyond "The preacher says gay marriage will destroy my own" and vote accordingly.

4. It's the response to the liberalism of the 60's
New technology allowed us to start changing things faster than many people can assimilate.

5. I agree with you 100%
It is totally a reaction to major social changes and it has been exploited by politicians.

I am truly hopeful it is calming down now.

6. I have just started reading this book but I think it has an
answer to your question: "One Market Under God: Extreme Capitalism, Market Populism, and the End of Economic Democracy" by Thomas Frank. It talks about the real reason that *ss is destroying our nation. Because there is not need for governments in a truly free market: a world with no boundaries or rules outside of the market influences.

7. Yes. Anyone who bases their life's values on unsupported
evidence is taking some grave risks. Some could call it a form of insanity.
