Have you seen this?
The Brick Testament.

An extraordinarily clever representation of the text of the bible.

Peruse it at great length--it's worth it!

1. I Like It a Lot
Check out books like Judges -- the cute little figures are incongruous given the bloody and disturbing story lines.

Just like Sunday school.

3. OH MY GAWD !!!
This is the funniest thing I've ever seen!!!

I don't know which one I like better,

Sexual Discharges

Leviticus 15:16
'When a man ejaculates semen...'
(his pants are lying on the floor!)

Transvestism

Deuteronomy 22:5
'Neither shall a man wear women's clothing.'
 (they must have had so much fun creating these characters!)

Why to Keep the Law

Deuteronomy 28:63, 27
'Yahweh will take delight in ruining and destroying you. He will afflict you with hemorrhoids, scurvy, and the itch, and you will find no cure.'

(which, if you recall, doesn't end well)

Deuteronomy 28:45

'All of these curses will befall you for not having obeyed the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping his laws which he has laid down for you.'
(the coffee cup is a nice touch)

or

When to Stone Your Whole Family

Deuteronomy 13:8-9
'You must kill them. Show them no pity. And your hand must strike the first blow.'

Thank you, Orrex, this is a scream!!!

I can't wait to send it to my dad!

4. This was posted on Slashdot a couple of years back
But it's still funny. I really like the one with God enjoying a hot cup of coffee after smiting the infidel.

6. I have seen a few of the pictures before,
but I never went through the whole thing.

It's comic genius!!!

I will now have to control my urge to laugh hysterically whenever I see a set of Legos.

The person going nuts and stoning her/his family was the funniest one for me.

It's like real life, but with lego.

Edited on Wed Apr-19-06 08:19 PM by Anarcho-Socialist

Matthew 21:42, Mark 12: 9
Jesus said to them, 'He will come and destroy the tenants.'

The authors of the Bible had some sick imaginations

12. No kidding.
I guess if I had kids and they had to learn the bible, this would be a good way to sanitize those stories.

23. You're welcome!
I wish I would have thought of this.

From the faq:
6. Are the scenes in The Brick Testament created entirely out of LEGO?

Everything but the background sky is built out of LEGO brand building blocks. Although by far the vast majority of what you see are just combinations of unaltered LEGO elements, there are a few instances where, as a last resort, Rev. Smith has modified LEGO elements with a hobby knife or permanent ink marker. Further, there also are a few select instances of computer graphics used to enhance certain photos (besides the ubiquitous use of speech balloons).

9. Is he really a reverend?

Most ministers, priests, or other religious clerics would not actually use "The Reverend" before their own names, for to do so would be presumptuous and rather vain. The Rev. Brendan Powell Smith is not an ordained member of any earthly church, and is widely regarded as being both highly presumptuous and extremely vain.

The Reverend also does cartoons:

13. I actually saw one of his books in the children's section at Barnes &
Noble. I was thinking about giving one them as a xmas gift. I thought it was pretty funny that they shelved them in with Clifford, The Big Red Dog and Where's Waldo books.

14. Wow, I'd forgotten about this!
It's almost artistic, in its depiction of some of the more horrific bits of the bible as almost-cute playful scenes.

Anyone seen Tripping the Rift? End of the first episode pretty much sums up the god of the OT. If he existed, he'd be a DICK.

16. Zombie Lazarus !!!
Lazarus Reanimated

John 11:38-39
Jesus came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. 'Take away the stone,' he said.
(couldn't he have done that?) :spray:

John 11:44
The dead man came out bound hand and foot with linen strips and with his face wrapped in a cloth.
