Mysticism or Kabbalah anyone??
I have been studying various forms of gnosticism, Earth based religions and Kabbalah for about the last 6 years and was just wondering if any other DUers have an interest in this wide spectrum of thought? Also, in studying Kabbalah I know many different people have their own take on how it should be taught but I have really enjoyed the books from the Kabbalah Centre, which in the last few years has been very controversial. I myself have never felt hassled or bothered by anyone at the Centre and was wondering if anyone else has read any of their books?

1. my dad, who passed in 1997,
was a serious student (self study) of gnosticism and the Kabbalah. i wish he were here to discuss it with you. he enjoyed nothing better - well, maybe tapdancing... ;)

2. I like Gnosticism.
The Orders of Angels and other sprititual creatures are something similar in Kaballah orders of Angels.

I also like Kaballah for its dialectic (Kaballistic/Hebrew syllables yod, he, vo, he): thesis, anti-thesis, syn - thesis, indeterminant future-thesis. . . dialectical extrapolations of the un-pronouncable Name-of-"God" signified by YHVH.

5. There are some rules to studying Kabbalah
1. You must be 40+ years of age
2. You have to know the ins and outs of the Torah/Old Testament

There might be some others, but I forget them.

6. Close, but no cigar: I find a particular Japanese genius creator's
ways of putting occult Christian + Jewish + other stuff into this weird series and movie he made very interesting. (Especially with it's blend of strange science and philosophy)

But really, when you can see a half-clone of the the second angel and some random person in a giant mosterish thing that is inhabited by the soul of God-only knows what, knee deep in the clear blood, pulling the Lance Of Longinus from the chest of a giant crucified figure wearing a mask of the seven eyes of God, do you need to study that stuff? Well, yes, because it is damned interesting, but not yet, I can only have so many hobbies at a time.

You may know: What is a brief synopsis of 'Paradise Lost'?
