2. Charles Colson is number 10!
:eyes:

Right behind the anal sex obsessed child abuse advocate James Dobson.

And Sean Hannity is 40!

That list is a who's who of fundamentalist evangelicals.

Look! There's the Pope and Cardinal McCarrick thrown in for good measure!

Apparently Anglicans, Methodists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, and a host of other "establishment" protestant sects aren't "real" Christians enough to be influential.

4. Catholics are the largest denomination in the USA
Roman Catholicism in the United States or Catholicism has flourished since its colonial era, previous to the establishment of the nation. The Catholic Church in the United States is the largest Christian denomination in the nation, with 65.2 million people professing the faith in 2003. Approximately 23% of the American population, it is four times the size of the next largest denomination, the Southern Baptist Convention.

so the Pope should be #1.... but Sean Hannity still beats him...

talk about living on another planet....

5. Don't disagree with your use of "evangelicals"
However, I don't consider Warren or Hybels to be fundies. I was surprised to see them so high on the list at nos. 4 & 5 respectively. These two men are VERY controversial in fundie circles. I find it difficult to even place Billy Graham in the fundie category.

6. While I'm surprised to note the omissions of Jerry Falwell and Pat
Robertson, it is also interesting to note the omission of more liberal-minded "influential Christians" on the Top 50 List such as Bishop John Shelby-Spong and The Rev. Barry Lynn of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, not to mention the late William Sloane Coffin.

9. Sean Insanity #40 Sanitorium #46 I kid you not
This list isn't written by any TRUE Christian.

True Christians would not be "any respecter of persons", and that is why the Fauxchristians are walking all over the meek and humble.

15. They've got Benny Hinn on there.
Which is odd to me, since you'd think any Christian with half a brain and a working understanding of the word "pharisee" would steer clear of him. Granted, the list is "influential," and I'm apt to mistrust any Christian who uses influence in a way that can be measured by polls.

16. when the absurd becomes too absurd to be absurd . . . or whatever . . .
Sean Hannity is #40 -- four places HIGHER than the Pope! . . . (I know the current Pope is no great shakes, but c'mon!) . . .

the Pope is followed closely by Rick Santorum at #46, and Dr. Phil(!) at #50 . . .

absolutely too absurd to be absurd . . . it demeans the concept . . .

there MUST be a better word! . . .
