House Democrats to draw up faith agenda - I sent them Yurica's articles
House Democrats to draw up faith agenda
Monday 31st January, 2005 (UPI)
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=f82bb8d47831fb80

from the article:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., wants her party to develop a faith agenda for 2006 to try to reconnect with religious-minded Americans voters. Pelosi has tapped U.S. Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., to lead the effort to recapture faith-based voters who, exit polls indicate, constituted a substantial bloc of votes in the 2004 U.S. elections. Clyburn said he would convene a working group to review party policies and ideas and to look at new ways to frame those issues in faith-based terms, Roll Call reported Monday.

On seeing this article, I sent an email to Reps Clyburn and Pelosi, providing links to Katherine Yurica's excellent Bible-based critiques of the Bush Administration/GOP Policies.

Author Katherine Yurica has written a scathing, detailed Bible-based critique of the Bush Administration and GOP policies. Her article, which relies solely on the Bible for it's material, finds Bush and the GOP on the WRONG SIDE of virtually EVERY issue. Ms. Yurica has presented this material as both an extended article and as an abbreviated "Congressional Handbook". Below find links to both documents.

1. I'm glad they're looking at doing this - this has been on my mind...

But I think it needs to be something along the lines of "The Defense of Faith Act" or "The Right to Worship Act." It would reinforce the age-old American right to practice (or not practice) whatever faith you wish - while framing the issue in such a way that the Radical RW freaks could never come out against it.

"You mean you don't want to defend FAITH, Tom DeLay?? WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA??"

3. This person of faith says, "right on!"
I'm sick of the hypocrits on the right claiming their beliefs are the only true faith. Especially when so much they shout from the rooftops is betrayed by their evil, un-Christian, un-Godly actions.

6. I'm sending my local Representatives Yurica's "Congressional Handbook"
It really sucks that the Repugs have been able to claim the religious vote for so long with an agenda that is directly opposed by the Bible.
