1. All good people but we need a major televangelist...
...if we are ever to take back Christianity. It's all about the marketing, unfortunately.

3. If only people really followed Jesus
they'd all be liberals.

Funny how "they" focus on the negatives in the bible.

4. Actually, the Neo-fundie Right's beliefs are downright Levitican.
Jesus is just a prop for them.

10. I'd say Paulist, not Levitican

I think St Paul would definately be a member of the religious right today, (as would virtually everyone else who live before about 1850).

Jesus as Christians envisage him would almost certainly be left-wing (I don't see how one can claim to be in favour of lovingthy neighbour as thyself and not be), but relatively little of even the new testament is accounts of his teachings, rather than those of his followers.

9. Yeah
We'd need a mega-church, TV spots, books, and whatnot to counter the Evangelicals. I doubt it would happen. Christian media seems controled by them too.

7. Yeah, me too.
I'm baffled that more Christians aren't liberal. There is nothing in the gospels that can remotely be interpreted to mean, "piss on the poor and bomb brown people."

6. You're right: Americans United for Separation of Church & State
is a really cool organization. I don't know why he wasn't on there.

8. A very incomplete list.
What does it take to get our progressive
religious leaders more media attention
and at the least posted on this list.
