Foxboro Police Arrest 78 Fans At Patriots Game

FOXBORO (WBZ) ―

Foxboro police were very busy at the Patriots-Jets game Sunday.

Police Chief Edward O'Leary told the Sun Chronicle that they took 78 fans into custody for drunk and disorderly conduct.

13 of them face criminal charges.

O'Leary speculated that in blowout games, some fans lose interest and concentrate on other things that get them into trouble.

So many fans were taken into custody that some were kept temporarily in prison transport vans, while the rest were in the holding facility at Gillette Stadium and the cells at the police station.

Oh, and btw....

The proposal would require the Cowboys to pay for 32 fire and rescue personnel and 260 police officers to handle public safety during games. They would receive 11/2 times pay or double time on city holidays.

The staffing would include officers to run two large holding cells and three small isolation cells in the stadium. The cells , created by a firm specializing in jail construction, are common in large stadiums and arenas.
