7. I would say so!!
I'm afraid I could easily slide into total impropriety, so I'll leave it at that.

5. I'm 40 miles northwest and we've got nothing at all.
I haven't watched the local weather since August though, so for all I know we're about to get a repeat of the blizzard of '78, which is ok with me. I have no heat and when it snows it's warmer than it is now. Friggin' freezing over heah. :)

8. The most interesting fact I found out
Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 09:14 PM by JonLP24
when I was at Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri is that it is possible for it to be too cold to snow. When I heard that it blew my mind.

Not sure if it is factually correct though. I'm from central Arizona so I don't have a lot of experience when it comes to snow.

11. It is true...
I'm no science wiz, but it has something to do with the fact that it can get so cold that the air is too dry for the snow to ever reach the ground.

12. Oh, hell yeah, Jon.
When we get to, say 20 to 30 below, we have an old trick. We boil water in a microwave and then take it out and throw it in the air.
It vaporizes instantly. beautiful!

13. 30-35 degrees with flurries is my kind of weather.
Spent too much time on hockey rinks to be anti-cold. :)

I don't know about never, but it does seem like it rarely snows when it's under 15-20 degrees. The snow and low clouds almost act as an insulator, so snowy nights can be very peaceful and cozy.

17. And quiet
The clouds and the snow insulate against all the world's sounds. I love that. And I hate the bitter cold so I love big snows because it means it's actually pretty mild.

24. Since I've been here, about 24 below.
Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 09:23 PM by El Supremo
But I think it's been lower. That last several years have been mild. But I think that Global Warming has taken a vacation this year. So far 17 below.

Now Minnesota or North Dakota or West Yellowstone or Frasier and Gunnison , CO are far worse.

It's so cold, sublime is the only word I have for it. Because it takes a helluva a lot to get there. By then, you're just laughing at it.

We actually seem to miss a lot of the frigid cold here in the Boston area. It's gets damn cold, don't get me wrong, but not like those winds there. That's just evil.

23. Damn, TZ.
That there is a record. Having lived in DC for five years, 13 inches was the most. The Veterans Day storm of 88, me thinks.
Enjoy, TZ. Going into Christmas it sounds like the Perfect Storm!!

30. Hey Condem remember how I was worried about digging my car out
Two of my neighbors helped me out and one of them is a Cowboys fan (I was wearing my big warm Redskins jacket). We actually had a nice polite football conversation while digging...So snow even transcends Wash-Dallas...:)

31. Try that in Philly, TZ.
I don't think it would be as civil. In fact, the Eagle fan would dig his/her car out and throw the snow on the Skin/Cowboy fan's car.
This, I can guarantee.
