Congratulations Boise State!! Champions of the Cupcake Bowl!!
Edited on Tue Jan-05-10 11:28 AM by Upton
Boise's performance last night was about as unimpressive as you can get....Only an anemic TCU offense kept them from losing..

One thing that was proven by the Cupcake Bowl was that neither one of these teams deserved to play with the big boys...ask Cincy about that.

Edit: Play a REAL schedule, get some respect...

1. How'd Stanford do?
They lost to some Big Ten team didn't they? Oregon? The Pac10 champ was CLEARLY the winner of the Cupcake Conference....

over Cincinnati's humiliation, huh? And Stanford lost to OU, they didn't play a Big Ten team all year.

If you watched that game last night, you saw that neither Boise or TCU looked the part of a national champion.

10. I kinda figured they might get blown out
Edited on Tue Jan-05-10 02:39 PM by TZ
And you do remember that Cinci was in disarray with their coach leaving..and Florida was really motivated with what was going on with Urban Meyer.
BTW, Boise HUMILIATED the PAC10 Champion. So maybe you should not talk. Also it looked to me like two evenly matched teams. But of course it couldn't BE THAT. Oh no, low scoring games are only because a team sucks...:sarcasm:

4. Not at all...
Watching the game last night, it became obvious that neither one of those teams would have beaten Alabama or Texas.

Millions of others saw the same thing....a boring game between two overrated clubs that built their reputations by defeating cupcakes..

13. Yeah, and if they walloped TCU, then your excuse would be
that TCU just wasn't that good...I think TCU and Boise could easily whip the two over-rated teams playing Thursday night.

17. I think you are right.
Those would have been much more entertaining games. TCU vs. Texas, BSU vs. Alabama. (Though I really wanted to see BSU vs. Florida. A sea of nothing but bright blue and blaze orange? TV sets around the country would have melted.)

21. I don't know... I think that TCU defense could stop just about anybody.
I'd love to have seen them against Oregon or Texas, but obviously there was no way for that to happen. Oh well...

5. Did you watch the Texas-Nebraska Game?
You wanna talk about uninspiring? The highest ranked team Texas beat this year is currently ranked 20

12. Actually, Texas lost to Nebraska, then the refs decided they couldn't
stand for that, so they made the fourth quarter 15 minutes and one second in duration.

14. That's remarkably ignorant
That was a terrific football game between two extremely well coached teams. The defensive schemes and tackling were superb. I was incredibly jealous as a Canes fan. In particular, the short pass plays were blown up. That's always the sign of well schooled smart aggressive teams.

Newsflash: the two teams faced each other in a bowl last year. That invariably leads to familiarity and defensive dominance. They were ready for the cutesy stuff, just like Air Force destroyed Houston's mush offense after facing them in a bowl for the second straight year.

Don't compare Cincinnati to either of those teams. That's idiotic. Cincinnati was a soft team that was 116th our of 120 in rushing attempts per game, and a horrid pass defense that allowed more than 8 YPPA in the final 4 games. Boise State and TCU were balanced teams and in the Top 10-15 in every important defensive stat.

15. Boise State are the National Champions.
You have your opinion. I have mine.

There will be no objective measure of which is correct until they get rid of the jerk-off BCS system and implement playoffs.

16. they played in this game for one reason
the bcs was afraid that if either Boise or TCU upset one of the big boys it would remove whatever credibility the bcs has left and remove any legitimacy from the eventual national champion. The NCAA and the BCS is completely corrupt. As corrupt as dubya was.

18. All that may or may not be true..
Edited on Tue Jan-05-10 08:21 PM by Upton
but take a look at Boise's regular season schedule:

Oregon
Miami (OH)
at Fresno State
at Bowling Green
UC Davis
at Tulsa
at Hawaii
San Jose State
at Louisiana Tech
Idaho
at Utah State
Nevada
New Mexico State

One legitimate opponent in Oregon, and that was in the opener on their home blue turf.

All I'm saying is that Boise lacks the credentials to even be in a BCS bowl..let alone be declared the champions of anything...

20. no should be declared champions
that should settle that on the field. But the NCAA will never let that happen.
