Focus on the Family buys Super Bowl spot featuring Tim Tebow
Edited on Fri Jan-15-10 06:51 PM by El Supremo
Now, this I dislike.

Focus on the Family will air a 30-second television spot featuring University of Florida star quarterback Tim Tebow and his mother Pam, during the Super Bowl Feb. 7.

The Colorado Springs-based media ministry shot the ad with the Tebows Tuesday in Orlando, Focus spokesman Gary Schneeberger said this morning. It is set to air before and then again during the CBS broadcast of the game from Dolphin Stadium near Miami, he said.

Tebow and his mother will share one of their many personal family-affirming stories, Schneeberger said, but he wouldn't reveal which one. One such story could be her decision to carry him to term despite a life-threatening pregnancy in the Philippines where she and her husband Bob were serving as Christian missionaries.

The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, known for being home-schooled, winning an NCAA championship and wearing Bible verse citations inscribed in his game-day eye black, agreed to appear in the ad because the issue of life is one he and his family feel strongly about, Schneeberger said....

I wonder if Focus on the Family will spend as much money on Haiti relief as for this commercial?

Naw, they worry more about fetuses than the living.

16. Aside from playing money is the lucrative endorsement career
he puts in jeopardy.

Oh, he'll get it from Christian Fundamentalist groups but mainstream brands like Reebok, Sprint, Mastercard (all Peyton Manning employers) might think twice.

5. I fixed it for the easily confused, like you.
That's the way the Denver Post had it. They must think that "Focus" means Focus on the Family to more Coloradoans than a Ford Focus. We buy more Jeeps and Subarus than those crappy cars here in Colorado.

6. I might actually respect Timmy if he did an ad for a crappy car...
...as opposed to one for the Spawn of Satan's organization.

7. I thought of the car first too..
and the easy familiar way the Denver Post refers to such an organization would give me pause. There's not much question you live in a state just brimming with fundies.

9. There is a big nest of fundies in Colorado Springs.
And Denverites hear about FOTF all the time and are sick of them.

And wouldn't you think it would read "Ford buys Super Bowl ad..." if it was about the car? :eyes:

13. We have a Ford Focus that we have been driving for six years. My first
thought when I hear "focus"

I don't really think about Dobson's douchebags.

10. And if the game is between the Cards and Indy
the Cards have Warner (a/k/a Tebow Sr.), while the Indianapolis NFL Franchise was until just recently coached by fellow fundie blowhard Dungy. :puke:

17. The NFL is obviously a right wing organization
Look at how hard they are trying to sell milatarism to kids. They never pass up an opportunity to extoll "our heroes" who are "over there fighting for our freedom." Hogwash! But that's the subject of another thread.

The latest is Teblow's commercial will feature an anti-choice message. Planned Parenthood should submit their own commercial.
