22. The last right sized arena

was the one in NJ. It was even mentioned at the time that we were losing something when it was moved out to the big arenas. Basketball is best in a 20,000 person arena. You actually have to see the game to really feel it and watching it on a screen doesn't cut it.

I have been to multiple pro playoff games including one in Buffalo with Havlicek and MaCadoo with Buffalo winning at he buzzer by a putback by Garfield Heard.

I copied my game after havlicek. Never stopped running I was a slasher and a real pain in the ass to guard. I played until I was 46. really sucked at the end. very good passer(look away passes all the time- real good one on one moves and a sneaky rebounder(couldn't believe my eyes when Rodman came out of bounds to get position That was my move.

MLS is not one (at least, not yet), and as far as NASCAR goes, they have essentially a tournament schedule like golf or tennis. On week X, you go here and compete, the next week, you go somewhere else. There's no regional teams or "home field" for Nascar, tennis (unless you want to count that team tennis that no one pays attention to) or golf.

Also, what about the World Cup or the Olympics.

No decent sized field between the 2 cities. A neutral site announced well in advance at least gives people time to plan and make arrangements, basing the site on the winners of the two conference championships only gives people 2 weeks to plan. In fairness, though, since the fans of the teams playing don't know they're going to the SB until two weeks before, the local fans (as opposed to those who will go no matter who's playing) only have two weeks to plan anyway.

Don't laugh at these examples but they wouldn't be able to find a neutral field between the two cities if they do happen to go SB. SF-Oak, Ari-Den, Dal-Hou, etc.

Miami holds 76,000. I'm not sure the smaller capacity will help get more local fans seats, although it will help that having a Jan/Feb game in CT will weed out some of the celebrities, who won't want to sit outside in the cold. More importantly, though, what's a SB without luxury boxes?

Buffalo was awful good in the 90's and would have hosted quite a few championship games. What has been memorialized as one of the greatest games ever is the Ice Bowl which I saw on TV. That game is a game to be remembered "for the ages" Also, Adam Viniteri's kick in the tuck game is remembered as the greatest kick ever.

It is amazing that you let the corporatism of football be the way as opposed to supporting the guy who supports the team every day. Isn't the game for the fans?

The games leading up to the superbowl by and large are just better because they are played in front of a home crowd.

The mere fact that you think real fans attend the superbowl is a joke. Almost everyone on this blog and all fans I know concedes that the people attending are hardly sports fans. They are there because it is "cool" to go.
I have been watching sports since "59. when the Dodgers played the White sox. I went to Ebbets field in 1955 with my Dad. I have 16 baseballs signed by the baseball stars of the 1940's including Jackie Robinson and Joe Dimaggio.

I have a Stan Musial balled signed to me with my name on it as I was in the clubhouse at the Polo Grounds on Stan Musial night on 9/17/63. We knew the coaches and trainers of the St. Louis Cardinals

I really started watching basketball in '64 and saw the famous Havlicek steal on TV.

I have watched every World series for the last 50 years. I played basketball until I was 46 and I wasn't a stiff.

I watched Namath beat the Colts and most every NFL playoff game and Superbowl.

Just because you attend a game doesn't mean shit and even at my age I could still kick your ass in hoop.

I was at those games and those were true blue Steeler fans....True Blue Indy fans---True Blue Niner fans, and so on....Fan's that drove many hours to attend the game. And there were thousands of them....

Point is--- I was at those SB's and saw 1000's of real fans attend those games.

but let's face it it is the NFL selling out to the "rich" and connected. I just think that the hometown fan should be supported because they make the league go and they foot the bills. They use their hard earned dollars and when they were a shirt with the team logo on it, it means something. I started watching pre-superbowl so I have context into games before the superbowl. The Ice bowl has always been a game for the ages and for many year and maybe to this day it is considered he greatest game ever because of the homefield, the elements and the fans ad the dram of the game.

There is something special about winning in front of your fans or a visiting team coming in and beating you at home.

When "renewdata" said that soccer and college basketball is played at a neutral site. The whole tournament is at a neutral site. With his logic the whole NFL playoff should be neutral sites and it's not.

I don't think the argument stands that it is the most important game therefore it's should be at a neutral site. All the games in the playoffs are important. one and done and you are out.

The rest of the championships in pro sports (Baseball, Basketball, Hockey) are best out of 7, not just a single game. Tickets are in higher demand because the one game itself is huge.

I'm not saying that it will change but what I am saying is that the NFL disses the regular fan. It let's the regular fan pay for the entire season and when it is the most important game you guys let them take it from you and play it in front of a bunch of celebrities that are there to be seen. The celebrities have don't support these teams and have little to do with the NFL being successful.

They take the regular guy and throw him or her overboard for bullshit people and you people think it's a great idea.

Talk about being led around by the nose.

As far as seeing the Who. I first saw them at the Fillmore East in May '69 before Tommy and saw them 5 times playing Tommy and multiple times after that. One of the all time best concerts ever.

I saw them all with the exception of Jimi who I had tickets for at the Fillmore but didn't go.
