2. I don't blame Favre for all this anymore...

At first, I did, but after the last two years, I've come to realize that he's not sure what he wants to do, he'll wait as long as possible until making a decision, any "decision" he makes before he has to commit doesn't matter because he could always change his mind, and if I were in a similar situation, I'd probably do the same. Sure, he seems to go out of his way sometimes to get media attention, but it's the media's fault for giving so much to him. NOTHING anyone says or does related to this means a damn until training camp next year. If they could limit their Favregasms to one minute a week until then, we'd all appreciate it.

bitterness towards Green Bay and his attempt to hold them hostage was the sign of a whiny little brat.

but the stupid, daily Favre-watch is a media creation that I don't blame him for, unless he starts holding daily press conferences on it.

10. The Media Loves To Cover Easy Stories

And the annual, will he or won't he retire story is really, really easy to cover. Stories like the Winter Olympics or the World Cup takes time, personnel, and money to cover.

It's just so much to station someone outside of Brett's house.

6. I agree.

I see it as him using his retirement as as a negotiating ploy. I don't hold that against him, after all Green Bay tried to force him to retire before he wanted to. What makes me sick is the 20 minutes out of every half hour of NFL news that is devoted to him on an almost daily basis until he shows up at training camp. And you know he's not going to show until just before the first pre-season game because he doesn't want or need to. It's all too predictable yet ESPN and NFL network will just beat it to death and beyond.

7. The Packers wanted him back

About a month after Favre retired, he let it known that he had changed his mind and wanted to come back. When Ted Thompson heard that, the Packers chartered an airplane to fly down to Mississippi to welcome him back and work out the details. Before they could get down there, Favre changed his mind again and decided to stay retired. At that point, the Pack decided to go with Aaron Rodgers. Of course, as we know, Favre changed his mind again later that year (in July) and wanted to come back. Mike McCarthy said fine, but he'd have to compete for the starting job, since they had started making plans for Rodgers. Favre then asked to be released, but the Pack traded him to the Jets.

Farve was allowed to continue as a starting QB and Green Bay got to play a QB who was equally as impressive with a lot more years left.
