A-Rod to be questioned in Canadian doctor probe

TAMPA, Fla. (AP)—Yankees star Alex Rodriguez(notes) has been contacted by federal investigators regarding a Canadian doctor accused of selling an unapproved drug.

Rodriguez said Monday he was “aware” of the investigation and plans on cooperating with government officials who are looking into Dr. Anthony Galea. Rodriguez said a date for an interview has not been set.

“I can’t really get into that,” Rodriguez said. “I have to speak to those guys first. I’ve just got to wait for instructions.”

Galea is facing four charges in his country related to the drug known as Actovegin, which is extracted from calf’s blood and used for healing. His assistant also has been charged in the U.S. for having HGH and another drug while crossing the border in September.

1. Beltran confirms he talked with feds

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP)—Mets center fielder Carlos Beltran(notes) talked to federal investigators last week about a Canadian doctor accused of selling an unapproved drug and said he recommended the physician to teammate Jose Reyes.

Beltran went to Toronto last summer seeking Dr. Anthony Galea’s opinion on his bruised right knee, the All-Star said Tuesday. He worked with Galea for a month and felt better following a rehab program, but his knee regressed when he went home to Puerto Rico.

“I have nothing to worry (about), nothing to hide,” Beltran said. “I just went there for an opinion for my knee.”

It sounds like it has little to do with A-Rod himself. I'd love to jump all over him for this story. I hate him as much as I hate Bonds. But there is nothing here for me to attack, really. Its not like this guy was A-Rod's close personal trainer who spent time in MLB locker rooms. Then perhaps I'd get worked up.

investigators are going after the doctor and possibly using A-Rod's help or whatever. He isn't doing anything wrong now to elicit very many negative responses towards Rodriguez.

This same doctor also treated Tiger Woods in the past, not giving steroids but to do some sort of blood spinning technique.
