Antrel Rolle is set to become the highest-paid safety in NFL history.
The New York Giants agreed to a five-year, $37 million deal with Rolle, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Rolle is guaranteed $15 million and will receive $22.5 million over the first three years.
The Arizona Cardinals release Rolle Thursday to avoid paying him the $4 million roster bonus and $8 million salary he was due but indicated they were interested in re-signing him.
Rolle was Arizona's first-round pick, the eighth selection overall, out of Miami in 2005. He began his pro career as a cornerback but had most of his success after being switched to safety in 2008.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4970647I feel differently about this one than the others. I'm sad to see him go and he is very good but the price tag is too high. Adrian Wilson is a better safety so for him to be the highest paid was too much.
