Dodgers Russell Martin gains 25 lbs...gets injured..
It was a dark and stormy day at Camelback Ranch, washing out the White Sox game (and the Dodgers game in Mesa), but it was particularly gloomy for the Dodgers who announced that catcher Russell Martin, contrary to other reports, will be out 4-6 weeks with a strain either the lower abdomen or the groin area in the muscles that connect the hip, abdomen and groin.

--------

Team trainer Stan Conte told reporters in Phoenix that the extra 25 pounds Martin gained in the off season was unrelated and the injury could have happened to anyone.

Sure Stan...that extra 25 pounds that Martin gained had nothing to do with the injury at all..:eyes:

1. No shit.
Unless he sneezed while tying his shoes (don't laugh; I've done it), I'd bet money it was the extra weight.

2. Of course it was the weight..
25 lbs is a lot to gain in such a short time...Martin's body is obviously having trouble adjusting..

4. I'm sure Dr. Upton would agree that the extra weight that Sandoval will

6. That's why the Giants instituted Operation Panda
for Pablo... in order to avoid the injuries associated with weight gain..

If the blue trash from SoCal cared about their players as much as the tradition rich Giants, they might not have this problem with Martin..

You don't just allow your starting catcher to put on 25 lbs during the off season..

Edit: say, how's that McCourt divorce going for you? Lets check out some recent revelations:

Two of his sons drew a combined annual salary of $600,000 from the Dodgers, despite one working at Goldman Sachs and another attending graduate school at Stanford..

Or how about this:

The Dodgers' former first couple pocketed income totaling $108 million from 2004 through 2009 without paying any federal or state taxes, according to documents Jamie McCourt filed in the couple's divorce case.

It's great being a Dodgers* fan..isn't it?
