A broken season for a team that many saw as a playoff team before an early 14 straight losing streak and enough injuries to require a score card for all the AHL minor league call ups and a pre trade deadline that saw 4 out of 6 starting defensemen traded before the deadline, a bright spot emerged this past week. With more injuries on defense including one of only two remaining starters, olympian Tim Gleason, Jamie McBain was called up this week and has 3 assists and a winning goal in overtime over defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh in three games. The amazingly easy adjustment at the NHL level has come as a pleasant surprise for a team that hasn't understood it is supposed to fold now having been sellers at the trade deadline following the olympics.
