Create a Baseball team using only players that you PERSONALLY saw play LIVE
Edited on Mon Aug-30-10 03:17 PM by charlie and algernon
Create a team using only the players that you saw play in games you attended. Watching TV or listening on the radio doesn't count. You had to have seen them take the field at a game you attended.

My team:

Catcher - Pudge Rodriguez
1st - Albert Pujols
2nd - Chase Utley
3rd - Alex Rodriguez
SS - Derek Jeter
LF - Barry Bonds
CF - Ken Griffey, Jr
RF - Ichiro
DH - Miguel Cabrera

SP - Randy Johnson
SP - Roger Clemens
SP - Roy Halladay
SP - Josh Johnson
SP - CC Sabbathia

CL - Mariano Rivera

Bench - Chipper Jones, Hanley Ramirez, Ryan Zimmerman, Jim Thome, Ryan Howard

1. OK
Edited on Mon Aug-30-10 03:26 PM by JonLP24
Catcher-Damien Miller
1B-Mark McGwire
2B-Fernando Vina
SS-Tony Womack
3B-Matt Williams
LF-Luis Gonzalez
CF-Ken Griffey Jr.(The one time I did see him, he left after 1 AB and in the 4th inning due to a food related illness.
RF-Danny Bautista
P-Randy Johnson

All of these are players I saw law from a period of 2 games the same year. It is mostly Diamondback players because I forgot who played on the Reds and Cards except for a few. I did see Randy Johnson pitch against the Cards. He had a hit hitter into 7th with several keys, Tony Womack hit a walk off home run who as of last year was on a minor league team with my cousin in Tucson. My cousin also happens short stop which he played his whole life.

I ain't even going to get into bench and other starting pitchers based on the limited number of MLB players I watched.

in case Pujols gets raptured the next time he goes to a Beckkk rally. :-)

edit: come to think of it, you could use Thome from your quite impressive bench.

I've actually seen everyone on your list play, in person, except for Bonds, Josh Johnson and Zimmerman.

I came up with different players I've seen, since otherwise our lists would look pretty similar.

DH - David Ortiz

7. Big Red Machine/ Don't need 'other' players
Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan and Tony Pérez, and was supported by George Foster, César Gerónimo, Ken Griffey, Sr., and Dave Concepción. The eight players most frequently referenced as members of the Big Red Machine include baseball's all-time hit leader in Rose; 3 Hall of Fame players in Bench, Peréz and Morgan; 6 National League MVP selections; 4 National League home run leading seasons; 3 NL Batting Champions; 25 Gold Glove winning seasons, and 63 collective All-Star Game appearances.] The starting lineup of Bench, Rose, Morgan, Pérez, Concepción, Foster, Griffey, and Gerónimo (collectively referred to as the "Great Eight") played 88 games together during the 1975 and 1976 seasons, losing only 19. BEST trade ever in Baseball Lee May for Joe Morgan. I can still see Joe pumping that arm. Of course that was before the first player strike which pretty much turned me away from all professional sports. Pitching was great too.
Jack Billingham
Pedro Borbon
Clay Carroll
Tom Carroll*
Pat Darcy*
Rawly Eastwick
Don Gullett
Tom Hall*
Clay Kirby
Will McEnaney*
Gary Nolan
Fred Norman
This team could be down 6 runs in the 6th and you would run out and put money on them. I loved watching this team. I saw the Reds @ Crosley field and then Riverfront, guess I'll have to get a beer distibutor to give me tickets so I can see the new field. Damn, one team, three different stadiums, I am getting old. I am pulling for them hard to beat the teabagging Cardinals.
