Floyd Mayweather: 'I'll cook that chump' -unleashes racist and homophobic video rant
Floyd Mayweather Jr., who has steadfastly refused to answer questions about the most recent round of failed negotiations for a fight with Manny Pacquiao, has unleashed a profanity-filled racist and homophobic Internet rant against the Filipino star.

In an approximately 10-minute UStream video, apparently made Thursday and also posted on YouTube, Mayweather repeated his assertion that Pacquiao uses performance-enhancing drugs, an accusation that resulted in a defamation lawsuit from Pacquiao earlier this year.

"I'm on vacation for about a year, about a year," Mayweather said. "As soon as we come off vacation, we're going to cook that little yellow chump. We ain't worried about that. So they ain't gotta worry about me fighting the midget. Once I kick the midget ass, I don't want you all to jump on my d---. So you all better get on the bandwagon now. ... Once I stomp the midget, I'll make that mother f----- make me a sushi roll and cook me some rice."

“I’m going to cook that (expletive) with cats and dogs. Have some rice with a little barbecue dog.” He also referred to Pacquiao by using a derogatory slang term for a homosexual.

:puke:

Go Pacquiao!!

4. Boxing is a tough sport.
I had to look all around the internet to find the full "rant." Floyd certainly did use some vile, ugly language. I was glad that he apologized for it the next day.

It's not uncommon in boxing. I note that a radio personality said that Floyd was "making it personal." As a retired boxer, I can say that without question, boxing is personal. Every time one fights, it's you and one other person in that ring. And in the pre-fight build-up, many fighters attack the other person. A good example is Ali: he attacked guys like Patterson, Terrell, and Frazier. Boxing historians often refer to these examples as Ali's ugly side. It is too often overlooked that each of the three refused to call Ali by his name; they insisted upon calling him "Cassius Clay." They paid a price.

Floyd will fight Manny in May, 2011. The issue with negotiations has to do with PPV shares. Manny is not a big PPV attraction; Floyd is. Floyd is having Don King represent him on a one-time basis for this.

In May, Floyd will easily defeat Manny. Then the pro-Pacquiao folks will sy that Floyd was too big, that Manny's shoelaces were too tight, and every other excuse they can think of.

6. You know, you may have a point there.

'Tis said that Kid Paret taunted Emile Griffith with "a derogatory slang term for a homosexual". Griffith returned the favor by administering a fatal beating to Paret in the ring. Like "Boom Boom" Mancini, he was never quite the same afterward. :(

Factoid: I used to hoist a few after work at a Jersey City bar patronized by Griffith on occasion, though I never met him.

7. I've had the opportunity
to meet and get to know Emile over the years, starting at the second Ali vs Frazier fight at the Garden. He was one of the people who supported friend Rubin's fight for justice early on. Rubin had TKOed him years earlier, in the first round. He had also gotten into a pre-fight psychological battle with Griffith. When I asked him why -- I didn'tapprove of some of the things he said -- he told me that he had sparred Griffith several times, and knew that if he didn't get under his skin, Emile could simply outbox him for 12 rounds.

Again, I do not approve of some of the things Floyd said. They were offensive. But, as someone who boxed quite a lot, I understand what he is doing, and why he is doing it. I pulled some shit in my day, that led to conflicts in locker rooms before bouts, and some very ugly situations in public after fights. I wanted my opponents to lose control: once they did, they were no longer opponents -- they were victims.

It's a tough sport. Sometimes, looking back, I just shake my head and wonder how I got through it all. But young guys don't think the way old men do! I remember my brothers and my friend Frank Berry dying after an amateur fight in Syracuse. I thought, "Wow! Poor Frank." But it didn't occure to me that we were all taking that risk when we walked down the isle, and stepped into that ring.
