Stat of the Week - Number of arrests per team in the AFC East...

The number of arrests, per team, in the AFC East since January 2009, when Rex Ryan was named coach of the Jets:

Miami: 6.
Buffalo: 5.
New England: 1.
New York: 1.

I'm not minimizing the arrest of Braylon Edwards for DUI last Tuesday morning. And the egregiousness of it -- testing at twice the legal limit for drunkenness, being arrested after 5 a.m., and having two teammates in the car -- makes it fair game for critics who said the Jets should have pushing Edwards by not allowing him to play Sunday night in Miami. But I'm also asking for a little perspective in calling the Jets the outlaws of the NFL.

According to an arrest log kept by ProFootballTalk.com, there have been 22 players arrested for driving while impaired or DUI since Jan. 1, 2009. I went back and checked what happened to each player arrested, and not a single one who was a viable NFL player was kept out of his team's next game. Seven were either roster marginalia or practice-squadders who were cut by their teams and who I don't believe apply to those being kept out of their team's next game, because they weren't valued members of their teams. Miami federal prosecutor arrested after swimming in his boxers

"A Miami federal prosecutor was arrested Sunday afternoon at a local bar after a young girl and her mother accused him of being indecent when he went swimming in his boxers at the establishment's pool overlooking the Miami River and downtown.

Sean Cronin, 35, was charged with two misdemeanors -- lewd and lascivious exhibition and nonviolent obstruction of justice -- by a Miami police officer as he tried to leave Finnegan's River, 401 SW Third Ave., according to an arrest affidavit.

Cronin, a Boston native who was watching the New England Patriots game on the big-screen TV at the outdoor bar, decided to go swimming in his boxer shorts. The girl and her mother were at the pool.

According to the arrest form, the girl and her mother told police that Cronin's genitalia were exposed as he exited the pool. `The victim's mother, who also witnessed the incident, then covered her daughter's eyes,'' the form said."

" Mallon, wearing a throwback Wesley Walker Jet jersey, had been engaged in playful pregame taunting with passing Colt fans at a Jet-heavy tailgate party outside Lucas Oil Stadium when the cops entered the fray.

The officers told the verbally jousting fans and Jet diehards to move along -- but Mallon, of Brick, NJ, apparently didn't move fast enough, witnesses, including his dad, told The Post.

Cops grabbed the construction worker, threw him against their patrol car, punched him in the back of the head and then Tasered him, the witnesses said.

Cops claimed Mallon was "causing a disturbance, throwing beer on other people in the crowd," according to a report by Sgt. Jeffrey McCleerey, of the Speedway, Ind., police."
