Yankees lose to KC again

So a sweep is how should I put it possible. Dont know whos starting for them both tommorow but it would be nice to see the Royals sweep the Yanks, and it would be nice to see Hayden Penn get his first major league win and Matt Clement his first loss this year in Boston tommorow.

the Royals beat the Yankees. Doesn't happen very often.

2. Yeah but its happened twice in the last two days

Good on them, I honestly expected the Yankees to leave New York with a desire to avenge losing that series to the Sox and to pound the Royals, good thing the Orioles are coming off their first sweep good.

3. Are they playing in NY or KC?

I drove by Royals stadium last week while a game was on. I was surprised to see as many fans as there were in the stadium.

4. Yeah, I figured that the Os coming off that Detroit series would be

looking to kick ass. Now the best the Sox can hope for is a 2-2 split, that is if Clement can do the job tomorrow.

Well, despite being disappointed with the Sox tonight, at least the Royals are off to a good start under their new manager, Buddy Bell -- and it doesn't hurt that New York is already off to a terrible start on their Central Division trip.

BTW --tomorrow it's Pavano vs. Jensen for the NY - KC game.

6. Yep that sweep must have pissed them off

and the bats with the exception of last night have been good this series, the pitching too for the most part has been good, though Ponson had me shouting at him since he seemed to be unable to put Oritz away with a 1-2 count which later become a walk and as we saw, Manny Ramirez later had a two run single. Yeah I am glad the Yankees are off to a poor start, and that we're off to a good one on our road trip. Tejada did great tonight, 10 total bases, and that home run he hit was really cool.

7. Tejada is something else. He is the heart and soul of that team.

A week ago I was cursing the fact that we had Renteria at SS, but he has really turned it around at the plate. He was named AL player of the week for that last road trip, and he raised his BA from .239 to .295 in a six day run, pretty good, but I'd still rather have Tejada.:)

8. I like Renteria too

Oh yeah he just had to get used to the league adjustment, hes not a power hitting SS like Miguel but he's a good hitter and plays shortstop equally well. Yeah Miggy really is our heart and soul, he I think is the real reason the Orioles improved in 2004 and keep on going up in 2005, he's what Ripken was for us, and I guess this is because I idolized Ripken as a kid but I see Miguel being like Ripken to us, I really hope he stays with us, he seems to love playing in Baltimore, hes shown an ability to hit for average here too, and that was what he was missing with the A's, he only I think had one over 300 year there but in Baltimore, hes hitting 300-330 around, and that with his increasing power is great to have, hes so great to have. Renteria's grand slam against NY on Saturday was great, hes a more traditional shortstop but I think hes good.

I really like Renteria honestly, I prefer Tejada of course but Renteria can play shortstop with the best of them.

9. I repeat . . . the Yankees are in deep shit . . .

they're on the verge of being swept by the worst team in baseball . . . and this following a thorough shellacking by the Bosox . . .

they're pitching Pavano tomorrow, and he hasn't shown anything lately . . . in fact, all of their pitching moves in the offseason have sucked . . . Randy Johnson pitched a complete game tonight and was down 2-0 after the first . . . Wright in on the DL (again!) and Pavano is mediocre at best (though you wouldn't know it by looking at his annual salary) . . . they'd have been a lot better off keeping Lieber, Vasquez, and Hernandez, all of whom are pitching great this year . . . and who, collectively, helped the Yanks win over a hundred games last year . . .

this team is old, unmotivated, not together, and a shadow of Yankee teams of the past -- despite having (former) "all-stars" at virtually every position . . . A-Fraud is leading the league in hitting -- except when there are men in scoring position . . . these guys leave more runners stranded than most any team in the majors . . .

as Torre always says, they'll go as far as their starting pitching will take them . . . unfortunately, that ain't gonna be into the playoffs this year . . . Baltimore or Boston will take the East, and the wildcard will come from another division . . . George's head will explode, and he'll spend the winter finding the best available has-beens and once again signing them to ridiculous contracts . . . and then repeat the process all over again . . . he's like a QVC addict who just keeps buying, despite overwhelming evidence that all he gets is junk . . .

10. I think Johnson is a great pitcher

Hall of famer first ballot no doubt about it but they are paying him at 42 what you pay a Cy Young Winner at 32, its just not smart. I agree with what you say about hte players theyve gotten rid of who were young and had potential, they really seem to have forgotten that role players are important to a team's success as well, the Yankee teams of the mid 90's that were so dominant had just that, Scott Brocisus was a small name but he really got the job done for them, the Red Sox had a guy like that last year in Mark Bellhorn. The Orioles are doing better than them not just because of hitting but because the Orioles actually have a decent pitching staff this year though I think they need to work on it a little. I really thought the Yankees were back on track truth be told but the way they played against the Red Sox this weekend was unimpressive and the way they're playing KC now, and they have a strench of going up against some pretty good clubs coming up soon.

11. he IS a great pitcher . . . he's just not showing it this year . . .

whenever they interview RJ after a game, he says something like "I pitched well enough to give us a chance to win" . . . that it NOT why they brought him to New York and are paying him $16 million a year . . . they brought him in to be their ace, their stopper . . . they brought him in to intimidate hitters and to virtually guarantee that they'd get a win every five games . . . pitching well enough to give your team a chance to win is what you hope for from your fourth and fifth starters . . .

right now, opposing teams are hitting something like .314 against Johnson . . . he's not intimidating ANYONE, and his slider is just hanging out there waiting for hitters to clobber it . . . unlike past years, he just doesn't look angry when he's pitching . . . now, he may come around at some point and be the pitcher the Yanks thought they were getting . . . but right now, he ain't . . .
