The Yankees were swept by the worst team in baseball
Don't yell at me, that's what the article says:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- It was a terrible time for the New York Yankees to play a terrible team.

The Yankees were swept by the worst team in baseball, falling 5-2 to the Kansas City Royals on Thursday night for their first five-game losing streak in more than two years.

It's the third time in their storied history the Yankees had been swept in three games by the team with the worst record in the majors. The other times were in 2000 by Detroit and 1937 by the Philadelphia A's.

New York, after winning 16 of 18, still faces stops in Minneapolis, Milwaukee and St. Louis in its longest road trip of the year.

"You've got to give the Royals credit," said Joe Torre, who held a closed-door meeting with his team on Wednesday night.

6. those back pages are right on . . .
what a sorry bunch this "team" has turned out to be . . . yet again A-Fraud fans in the ninth when it counts . . . leading the majors in hitting doesn't mean squat if you can't get a hit when it's needed . . . and their pitching just stinks . . . no playoffs for these guys . . .

have we heard from Steinbrenner yet? . . . he's gotta be itching to fire someone . . .

10. Its only gonna get worse for them
Reason why they wont make the playoffs is because of having losing streaks like this, what killed us last year in Baltimore was a 11 game losing streak and 8 game one, now a 6 game losing streak I realize isnt the same but theyve had a few four game losing streaks so far.

12. question
Do you Red Sox fans take more joy in their team winning or in the Yankees losing. This is a serious question.

13. I'm a Sox fan; I'll give you a serious answer -- it depends on the game.
What I mean is, if it's a particularly dramatic, come-from-behind win for the Sox, then I'll enjoy it more than a routine loss by the Yanks.
Conversely, a particularly humiliating, dispiriting loss for the Yankees is more enjoyable than a routine win for the Sox.

It's partly because the Sox and Yanks are in the same division, so the worse the news is for the Yanks, the better it is for the Sox, but, honestly, it's also because I think the Yankee organization, and many (not all) of their fans are insufferable, so there's the petty, vindictive angle to the equation also.

14. you see
that's the difference between Sox fans and Yankees fans. I hate the Sox. But if the Yanks are sucking, the Sox losing doesn't give me joy. My team winning is much more important to me.

15. Give it time
80 years worth of Yankees losing and Sox fans rubbing it in your face every chance they get will turn you sooner or later to their way of thinking.

16. well
as with most Yankees fans, I'm also a Giants fan in football. I'd much rather see a Giants win, than a Cowboys or Eagles loss.

17. You're speaking for yourself, that's why I said "not all" Yankees fans
are complete jerks. You're making a generalization about "Sox fans and Yankees fans" as if you spoke for everybody, you don't. I know plenty of Yankee fans that DO enjoy the Red Sox losing, so it's not like it's a one-way street.
