Poll question: Favorite major leaguer over 40
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 06:57 AM by undisclosedlocation
I'm kind of tempted to put "The Yankees pitching staff" instead of Randy Johnson, but apparently Kevin Brown is the only other one who qualifies, and I don't think the groundswell for him is going to be too strong.

Some others: John Franco, Jeff Fassero

1. Don Zimmer
We had a season-running dialogue in one of my rotisserie leagues last year about his nutsac.

9. It takes balls of steel to come after a man at least 35 years his junior!
Plus he totally has a "baseball face"

3. Mike Schmidt - He's 55
and still the greatest third baseman to play the game.

7. A 40 year old catcher, Pat Borders
He's doing it because he loves the game. He doesn't care where he plays, minors, majors, whatever.

All the guys listed would retire if they were demoted to the minors, not Pat Borders.

A man playing catcher at his age is pretty amazing.

8. 42 year old pitcher
Terry Mulholland - yes he is mostly a relief pitcher now, but I just love to watch him play!
