Klash of the Korn Kings: Kansas vs. Nebraska
Edited on Tue Nov-09-10 12:01 PM by SpiralHawk
Curb yr enthusiasm. Me so korny.

Nebraska (8-1), leading the Big 12 North, and currently #8 on the BCS bowl rankings, will play at home Saturday night against Kansas (3-6).

Should be a snap, pop, and crackle for the Huskers.

N.B. Kansas is coached by Turner Gill, former QB standout for Nebraska.

1. An unlikely scene
Oddsmakers expect ABSOLUTELY NONE of this after the final whistle blows in Lincoln this coming Saturday night.

2. The Cereal Grain Bowl
Wheat vs. Corn

Just watch out when those sneaky Jayhawks score 35 unanswered points in the last quarter!

4. T-Magic T-shirts
Holy Crank out - didn't take long for someone to start up the T-paraphanalia crap...

I hope Taylor (T-Magic) Martinez plays against Kansas, too. He is so much fun to watch... But if he needs more time to heal his ankle, I'm much rather have Zac Lee at QB than Cody Green. Green makes me pretty damn nervous...

5. Whoever at QB, Beefy Boy Mike Caputo will snap it
Edited on Fri Nov-12-10 08:32 AM by SpiralHawk
junior Mike Caputo , a 6-1, 275-pound veteran. The former walk-on isn’t all that big, but he’s feisty and has some moves...

Ye Olde Spirale Hawke played mainly end in high school, but did a couple of grinds at guard when necessity called. That was pretty damn brutal. I can only imagine what the combat is like in the heart of the line at this level of college ball...holy jayzus...

6. Coaches report: Taylor Martinez ready to play
"Taylor Martinez is "ready to go," Husker coach Bo Pelini said after Thursday's practice.

"We're in good shape. No issues injurywise."

...Same goes for cornerback Alfonzo Dennard and returnman Tim Marlowe, who Pelini said earlier in the week was battling a hip pointer. All are ready to play Saturday, the coach said.

7. Final game in an NCAA record streak of competition
The end of some streak: Saturday's game marks the 105th consecutive year Nebraska and Kansas have played football, the longest continuous series in NCAA Bowl Subdivision history.

It's the 117th meeting between the two programs, the third-most played game in NCAA history. Nebraska leads the series 90-23-3.

9. Nebraska wins, 20-3. Kind of a snoozer.
Edited on Sat Nov-13-10 10:26 PM by SpiralHawk
The Huskers were good defensively, adequate offensively, and overall not too damn impressive. But what the Hell, they are 9-1 now and that don't happen by accident...

Onward...Texas A & M next week...
