Florida’s Meyer denies leaking Cam Newton records
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP)—Florida coach Urban Meyer says he didn’t leak any information about Auburn quarterback Cam Newton’s academic record in Gainesville.

Meyer adds that no one on his staff would have leaked confidential academic information, calling it a “ridiculous claim and simply not true.”

Foxsports.com reported Monday that Newton had faced possible expulsion from Florida for academic cheating before transferring to Blinn Junior College in Texas. The report also says Newton was caught cheating three times and was to appear for a hearing in front of Florida’s Student Committee during the spring semester of 2009.

Meyer says “for anyone to think that I or anyone on our staff may have leaked information about private student records to the media doesn’t know us very well. It’s a ridiculous claim and simply not true.”

3. Is there a reason?
I know everyone hates Florida and Meyer so I'm not talking about him, even though I highly doubt he was the "source" in the Fox Sports article.

Newton has only said a few words which was, "I did nothing wrong". I guess that seems like a douch-y and dishonest statement but what is the proof? Someone says something someone told him(Bond).

Also this came out today.

Sooners saw nothing odd while recruiting Newton

NORMAN, Okla. (AP)—Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops says the Sooners didn’t come across anything irregular as they were recruiting Cameron Newton.

The NCAA is reviewing the recruitment of Newton and allegations made by a former Mississippi State quarterback, who said a man tried to secure payment from Mississippi State in order for Newton to play there.

Stoops said at his news conference Tuesday that he “didn’t notice anything and none of our coaches did as we were recruiting him.”

Stoops says he knew of “nothing at all” out of the ordinary and that Newton’s recruitment “could not have been better.”

With this, it seems like there isn't a whole lot of information out there that makes it appear Cam is even a little bit dishonest at this point. Though Newton and Rogers could have offered Cam to Oklahoma for $200,000(remember that was the rate for other teams) and Oklahoma failed to report it and Stoops is being dishonest about it.

4. The reports of him throwing a stolen laptop out the window
when police confronted him about it..and his pathetic excuses that go with it are odorific to say the least. And yeah, if this guy is this great an athelete why DID he leave Florida so abruptly and go to a small community college I'm not particularly inclined to believe the honesty of high profile atheletes at all..often these so called "rumors" end up being pretty accurate..Chris Webber, Reggie Bush etc. Where there is smoke there is fire. Urban Meyer has proven his dishonesty in the past...I don't think he's any better.

6. I'm not familiar with the excuses you're referring to
but you're correct as far as the incident goes, according to a police report. He completed a pre-trial diversion program so the charges were dropped and never went to trial. The reason given for the transfer that he gave was Tebow was returning to play another season so therefore he would be a backup for another year. If you transfer within Division 1 (or whatever they call it these days) you have to sit out a year which is likely why he transfered to a Junior College. So he could play. As far as other athletes that are found guilty is not evidence that Cameron is guilty or a very good reason to believe he is. A lot of people get charged for the same crimes, it doesn't mean they're all guilty.

You could end up being very right. I'm not saying he is guilty or innocent at this point because there isn't a lot of information. Lately we have Stoops coming out with this, a "source" that is "familiar with the situation" indicated Cameron didn't do anything wrong. I was just asking where this "seems" came from with that info coming out. That is all.

7. Oh I have no doubt there's some
Politics from rival schools with these charges- I think from what I've read it seems like this Newton guys behavior may be letting this happen - in other words, he has behaved in such a way that unsrcupulous people are taking advantage of...

8. The question for me is NOT who do I believe more? But who do I disbelieve less?

2. I don't believe it was him directly
I can believe he didn't have a role in this.

5. Why would a football player need to cheat on a test at Florida?
Was he having trouble getting the pottery wheel to spin? I guess moving to a Texas JuCo made it easier since there he could get partial credit even if he misspelled his name.

9. This is an orchestrated smear campaign to destroy Cam Newton.
It's coming from Starkville, Mississippi and Gainesville, Florida. The main journalists, if you call them that, are Pete Thamel, Thayer Evans, and Pat Forde. These clowns have written hit pieces in recent months on athletes at Texas and Kentucky. All were proven to be lies. New York times editor Hoyt Clark even admitted in writing that one of their stories published in his own paper was bogus.

There is also a story coming out on Rivals that UF academic sources say there is no record of Cam ever having any problems.

As for Cam's reasons for leaving Floria: He spent two years there riding the pine behind Tebow and was destined for another. Also, his father, who is a preacher, wanted him to get away from all the shady characters there. He was hanging with the wrong people and learning the wrong lessons. His father decided to send him to a tiny town in Texas to play JUCO and to get his act together. He wasn't even allowed to have a television and was forced to spend all his spare time working out, reading, studying, and going to church. He was a model citizen there as well as at Auburn. He even does charity work and speaks with troubled school children every Monday.
