A Team not in the BCS Top 20 should not be allowed into the BCS (I'm looking at you Big East)

The Big East is absolutely a disgrace to college football this year (and most years). They have 1 team who is bowl eligible at 6-3 and that is Second place Syracuse. They have no team in the Top 25, let alone Top 20, and Pittsburgh, a team that was previously undefeated in the conference, lost to UCONN last night. By the way, Pittsburgh's record is 5-4 and they are leading the Big East for a BCS berth. As long as the BCS is in place, I think no team not in the Top 20 should be allowed into a BCS bowl, no matter if they have an automatic bid or not.


Edit: Actually They have no Bowl eligible teams as Syracuse played two FCS schools and need one more win.

1. I think a restriction like that is a great idea

A conference winner with a ranking below 20, 25 is not a bad idea at all. Hell, I'd probably bump it up to 15 if I had the option.

If you're wondering why the Big East is an automatic qualifier conference, it is because they stepped up to the plate. They evaluated all the conferences from 2004-2007 and currently 2008-2011 will be used to determine what conferences get automatic qualifiers. In 2005, West Virginia went 11-1, defeated the SEC champion Georgia. In 2006, they had 3 teams in the top 12. In 2007, they had 3 teams in the top 25 but granted, none in the top 10.

2. Don't look now, but the ACC's Virginia Tech is just barely hanging on at No. 20

and they're lucky to be that high, considering they lost to James Madison at home!! :wtf:
