Poll question: How do you feel when your "team" loses a tough game??
This is a tough one for some. Baseball fans have 162 games, night after night. And an expanded playoff format that promises to get larger. Pro Football fans have sixteen games and a good chance to make the play-offs. Hockey and Basketball(both college and pro)render the regular season irrelevant. College Football..lose one game. Just one. Chances are the season is ruined. Lose three? But, I digress. The original question. How do you feel when your team loses a game that makes or breaks a season??

1. The whole concept behind the"team" was...
...your ultimate favorite. Now, some of you who have fifteen favorites, this is probably not much of a question. You lose and you just bounce to the next one. But this is about your signature team (for a lack of a better term).

2. There's games and games...
Regular season in most sports, losing is just a bad day, but losses to rivals are always hard to swallow. Playoffs are elevated anxiety, especially the one and done formats. In college football you have the members of the BCS cabal, who all feel they are meant to be number one at the end of the year, and then you have the fans of the other several hundred teams, who are perfectly happy to be in the hunt for their respective conference championships.

3. I have been known to get so mad
That I have a hard time sleeping, particularly if its a night game (generally only my Skins are capable of making me this mad). My mother tells stories though of when she and my dad were still married of him RUNNING A FEVER after the Cleveland Browns lost. Yes. The Browns.....

4. It is somehow comforting that I am not alone in my despair...
..I couldn't communicate Saturday night outside the occasional grunt. I'm still feeling it this morning.

6. Know the feeling all too well.
Got family coming in for the Ohio State game this weekend. I have to remind myself good cheer no matter what. We can only hope.

10. If it's any consolation TZ, somehow getting blown out is a little easier to take..
..sometimes. You chalk it up to nothing going right. It happens. It's those last second jobs of games you were supposed to win that tears your heart out. The what ifs. Those are the gut wrenchers.

12. I don't know about that Condem
Skins have lost both ways this year and in some ways...last night was far far worse than that.At least to me. Only the Dallas Cowboys are more loathesome to me than the Dog Killer.....and not by much

8. A pro-football loss
Edited on Mon Nov-15-10 09:31 AM by JonLP24
is more painful for me. I like pro football more so that has something to do with it but with college you lose 1. You probably don't make it to the title game, you lose 3 you start thinking about college basketball season. But you still have a shot at the conference title. Lose anymore and the season is over.

11. Depends on how the team lost
Being out-played or losing to a bad bounce is different than losing to a stupid mistake or missed/blown call.
