BCS: Week 7

Whisky to the Rose. Buckeyes to the Sugar? Sparty shut out. Oregon vs. Auburn for the marbles. Unless the ol' Ball Coach has something to say about it. Please, dear God. Just don't put TCU in the finale. I think You even hate the Horned Fogs. http://espn.go.com/college-football/bcs

1. Stanford at #4..
few of the guys on ESPN were making the case that both Stanford and Wisconsin should be ahead of TCU..and you know?..they're right.

2. Well, Upton.
Stanford might not even have Harbaugh for the Bowl. This could get mighty interesting.

23. Harbaugh isn't that way..
if he goes to Michigan it will be after the bowl game. He wouldn't pull the kind of BS that Kelly did.

Right now, Stanford looks to be headed to the Orange or the Fiesta. Though I think, that if either Auburn or Oregon loses, they should be in the NCG..

27. Thoughts?
What do you think? Does he go if the UofM beckons? I hear rumors of Gruden in Ann Arbor.

30. OMG
There are Gruden rumors everywhere. I heard of he might go to Dallas, now San Francisco. Hell I heard a rumor of Harbaugh might go to the 49ers.

32. I knew a Florida fan few years ago
who is also a Buccaneers fan and when he mentioned that he was glad to see Gruden go I asked him, "Why?" and mentioned that he took them to a Super Bowl. He said he took a team that Dungy built to the Super Bowl and hurt the team himself the following years after that. He mentioned that he let a lot of players go and went through and had so many QBs. I don't agree or disagree with that, just pointing that out from a perspective from a Bucaneers fan I knew.

I will say based on that logic, he deserves credit for building Oakland into a contender and the team went to shit after that. Though I think the reason the Raiders started performing poorly was because they were an old team when they went to the Super Bowl. Gannon, Rice, Brown didn't last long in the league after that Super Bowl.

33. Stanford was 1-11 four years ago..
Bring in Jim Harbaugh and they've shown steady improvement until they're now 11-1 and as good as any team in the country. They actually led Oregon at halftime in Eugene, they are two bad quarters away from playing for the NC. Sounds like the kind of turnaround Michigan hoped to get out of Rich Rodriquez doesn't it?

Maybe Rodriquez just needs more time, but should he get the axe you have to figure Harbaugh would like to go back there, there has also been talk about him and the 49er job.

Pac-10 officials admitted the blew the call when the called that face mask on Vontaze Burfict on Stanford's game winning drive.

8. Dennis Erickson
AD says he will serve his last year of his contract which is next season. I'm fine with that. A few plays here or there in quite a few close games the past two seasons they would be much different team standings wise. Plus only 1 starter on the team is a Senior so a lot of players will be back next year. I feel good with both Threet and Osweiller as the team's QB next season. Either will be fine. He also brought a running game here which Arizona State hasn't had since JR Redmond.

I don't want TCU in there over Oregon AND Auburn. If one or both lose, definitely TCU.

13. Who has TCU beaten?
Their two big wins are: Oregon State, who they struggled with and who Stanford demolished 38-0 last night. Utah..who Notre Dame slaughtered the following week.

Just who have they beaten? Their SoS is ranked 84th in the country. They simply don't deserve a NC shot.

I think they could beat anyone.

We shall see.

Edited on Sun Nov-28-10 09:00 PM by SpiralHawk
but we'll probably hear the definitive message on Tuesday...

Remember that OU was flying high at #1 till Mizzou cut them down. Then the Huskers cut Mizzou down...

No matter who wins the Big 12 Championship, I hope Martinez will be able to play and run and pass at a high level -- because he will give the fans a memorable show...

11. Why is Boise State ranked ahead of Nevada?
Edited on Sun Nov-28-10 08:59 PM by thewiseguy
Seriously? Why? a Team that can not even win the WAC conference is ranked so far up in the BCS rankings?

15. Boise State's one loss is to Nevada
Nevada's one loss is to Hawaii. To put it simply, Boise State lost to a better team than Nevada did. You could also argue non-conference schedule. They beat a team that is undefeated in the ACC and Oregon State while Nevada defeated just California(Though quite handily, much bigger defeat than Oregon's two-point win over Cal).

You really could ask this question every week of any team in any conference. Like why is Nebraska ranked higher than Texas to put it at an extreme so you can understand my point.

20. Disagree, wholeheartedly.
As a team who played all three, I'd love to see OSU-Whisky on a neutral field. By far, the class of the Big Ten. MSU has some big holes.

22. OSU beat Miami when both were at the top of the standings.
Losing tough games does some crazy things to teams. It's the ability to bounce back. Miami didn't. Says nothing about the talent on the field back in September. Whisky came very close to losing to ASU at home. Lose that, and it may have been a different outcome to the season.

26. Miami is one reason I think Polls shouldnt come out until week 8.
Also, the reason Wisconsin isnt ahead of Stanford right now is our OOC Schedule. But to tell you the truth, I'm not sure we would be 11-1 if our schedule was tougher because we werent all that good early in the season. So I'm happy our schedule was the way it was.

Northern Illinois cracks the top 25. I really hope they win their first conference championship in 27 years. They came so close so many times this past decade.
