Vanity rant: So I'm a pretty big UConn football fan...
I've had season tickets to UConn football for the past 5 years now; but seriously, UConn in a BCS Bowl game?
Any Big East team in a BCS Bowl game is a complete disgrace.

That said, I do still hope UConn wins this coming weekend. And I'll obviously cheer for them if/when they play in the Orange or Fiesta Bowl. But they don't deserve to be there.

Also why the hell is West Virginia now ranked, and UConn not? Just because the Mountaineers beat Pitt this past weekend? Well UConn beat Pitt too. And West Virginia. They are tied in conference standings. The only difference is that the Mountaineers have a slightly better overall record (by 1 win).

2. There are lots of teams who could benefit...
by hiring Randy Edsall.

Ironically, a good number of fans here were calling for him to be fired when the Huskies started conference play at 0-2 with losses to Rutgers and Louisville. Now of course, he's (again) the best coach in the Big East.

3. I'm from CT and while I like to see them do well...
they just ain't in the big leagues...at least not yet. Edsall has really improved the program, but yeah, not yet...

4. What's even more pathetic is that even if they lose...
UConn still has a chance of getting to the BCS game...

From ESPN's Big East Blog:

  • If Connecticut loses and West Virginia beats Rutgers: West Virginia goes to the BCS.
  • If Connecticut and West Virginia lose and Pittsburgh beats Cincinnati: Pitt, at 7-5, goes to the BCS.
  • If Connecticut, West Virginia and Pitt all lose: There would be a five-way tie for first place between those three teams, Syracuse and South Florida. At that point, it would go to who has the best record inside that five-team "mini-conference." UConn would have a 3-1 record, while West Virginia, Syracuse and Pitt would all be 2-2, and USF would be 1-2. So the Huskies, at 7-5, would go the BCS.
