Frank Gore suffers fractured right hip..out for the year.
Moments after filing an item about the San Francisco 49ers' vague responses regarding running back Frank Gore, the team confirmed that the Pro Bowl running back suffered a fractured right hip Monday night.

Gore is expected to miss the team's final five games.

That leaves Brian Westbrook and Anthony Dixon to carry the load. Westbrook impressed with 23 carries for 136 yards during a 27-6 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, but Gore is the best player on the 49ers' offense.

Needless to say, this is terrible news for the 49ers..

1. That's got to hurt!
It's a mercy for the Niners, fans though - that division is a disgrace! They should send the whole kit and kaboodle to the CFL after the season is over and give us Canada's top four in exchange.

3. Do you really think a Canadian football team could handle . . .
Edited on Tue Nov-30-10 03:56 AM by Jack Rabbit
. . . playing on such a such a narrow field?
. . . not being able to find the 55-yard line?
. . . being penalized for dropping a kick receiver who calls for a fair catch? (Huh, what's a fair catch? It sounds like a rule for sissies.)
. . . wondering why the other team gets a fourth down?

6. I'm willing to give them a chance.
How would all these so-called NFL teams handle the reverse?

4. Oh really?
I'll be sure to express similar sentiments next time the Patriots star, I believe his name is Tom Brady, goes down with a serious injury.

Anyway, the 49ers aren't as bad as their 4-7 record implies. They've lost 4 games by 3 points or less. Including games against the Eagles and Saints in which they lost in the final minute. With a little bit of luck, that 4-7 mark could easily be turned around, and there wouldn't be any talk about the NFC West being no good..

5. Been there done that already - I think we still had a pretty good year...
I have become numb to Patriots hate here - that which does not kill us only makes us stronger. You people don't handle hyperbole well.

I really do hope Frank makes a full recovery, but hips are bad news - remember Bo Jackson?

2. Terrible news for Gore
He's reaching the age that NFL backs wear out and are replaced.

Terrific dedicated player. But this is at least his third major leg injury, dating to Miami.
