2. When Brett Favre laughs and smiles when behind it's
boyish charm and god old boy love of the game. Apparently Anderson doesn't have that.

Wait a minute, I'm a Vikings fan.

Nope, still think that. Reporter was a douche. I could think of a million things that could be said that would cause him to laugh while still taking the game seriously.

3. Good work on that cheating thread...
I can't believe how fast some members hop on the authority figure bandwagon.

5. Thanks, you too.
I am often amazed at the positions that are held on DU.

4. Meh, if it was me
I would've said/done a whole lot worse(than Anderson's rant). A basic non-issue to me

6. It was a bit unhinged.
He could have just admitted it.

7. I loved it
The reporter handled it brilliantly, just the right emphasis and tone. I guarantee that clip will be shown in journalism classes.

If anything, he was slightly too kind to Anderson, explaining that the clip was prominent on Monday Night Football. That was like a nudge but Anderson is not accustomed to that type of high profile scrutiny so he imploded.

On Around The Horn tonight one of the regulars said the question should have been a simple, "Why were you smiling?" Many reporters would have framed it that way with no TV hint, sensing the subject might try outright denial, not realizing it had been televised.

A jerk reporter would have said something like, "You realize that clip will define you for the remainder of your career, if not longer?"

That would have been me.

8. I'm sure there were a couple of times
that the great Danny Marino laughed in a game he was losing....

9. If only reporters would be that adamant with things that matter.
Sure, Anderson didn't handle it well. He should have said something like: "You know what. We were getting beat bad. We were stressed out. Sometimes a little humor helps to bring one back to base, and actually can improve focus."

It's a game. Yeah, some people make a lot of money at it, but it's still just a game, and just entertainment. Why do we take such nonsense so friggin' seriously?

12. Great post!
I love sports, but some of my fellow sports fans scare me. It's like no one in their family has ever died or something. Many sports fans have zero perspective it seems.

13. Good perspective.
It really wasn't a big deal. Hasn't anyone heard of gallows humor? It just cuts the tension and allows people to refocus, and is human nature.

I don't fault the reporter for asking the question. Kent Somers (the one who asked it) covers the Cardinals for the AZ Republic. Second he said he was getting e-mails, tweets, and texts from fans right after MNF showed the clip of him and Duece Lutui smiling on the bench. He was just asking what I'm sure many fans did want to ask. I couldn't care less myself what he was laughing about. I just don't blame Somers for asking the question.
