It could have been a top 5 pick with a loss. However, the Cowboys and Texans boosted the Niners draft position by coming through with victories. Thank you Texas...you're good for something after all.

1. It was painful to watch
I was laughing when Whiz threw Bartel in there. He really did a bad job of managing QBs this year. Skelton wasn't playing great but the line was playing like shit. Skelton even escaped a couple of sacks and ran for positive yardage. Plus the pick he threw was hit by a lineman while Bartel threw it straight to a guy. Also Skelton nearly missed Andre Roberts on a touchdown pass in the first half.

It did improve Arizona's draft status. Not sure who I want though. If Andrew Luck declares I'm pretty sure Carolina will get him. Their biggest needs are CB and QB but I'm hoping Skelton will continue to improve though.

2. 49ers have the same needs
well, actually they have a lot of needs, but QB and the secondary head the list..particularly QB. Outside of Luck, I probably like Ryan Mallett the best. Jake Locker looks like a real project (ex 49er great Steve Young said this past week he doesn't think much of him) and Cam Newton reminds me of Vince Young. Gabbert and Kaepernick are also rated highly too. No matter who the 49ers select, I just hope he gets the continuity of a stable HC and OC, something Alex Smith never had.

5. As I was saying to a FB 49'ers friend (Creekdog cough cough)
They 49'ers seem to me to be following the Dan Snyder path in how not to win in football...On one of the Sunday football shows a rumor was floated that the 49'ers if they can't get John Harbaugh as coach were interested in.....Josh McDaniels..as HEAD coach...

6. Raiders are interested in McDaniels too
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/40881151/ns/sports-player_news/:

According to longtime San Francisco reporter Nancy Gay, the Raiders are "intrigued" with ex-Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels as a replacement for Tom Cable.

Gay also passes along "word from Alameda" that Al Davis won't pick up Cable's contract option for 2011, a scenario already reported as "unlikely" by Adam Schefter of ESPN. According to Gay, current Raiders OC Hue Jackson also intrigues Davis as a head coaching candidate. Cable must be informed by January 18 whether his option will be exercised. Right now, it's not looking good.

7. I will say

I don't think he is a terribly bad coach. There is no doubt quarterbacks play to their potential under him. I think Denver made a mistake in allowing him too much control over personnel decisions as he did. Much like Buddy Ryan with the Cardinals. He mishandled the QB situations and brought in an unhappy McMahon. He also badly mismanaged drafts as well but he did draft Frank Sanders. Having Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin made it easy to forget that Frank Sanders was one of the best receivers in Cardinals' history. He was really a terrific player. Him and Rob Moore was very nice targets to throw to.

8. I think McDaniels needs to spend much more time as an assistant
and learn that you DON'T manage people by running roughshod over them. I've no doubt he's a good x and o er but maybe he needs to learn the lessons Belichick did..when he was a lousy coach for the Browns.
