Hartford CourantPaul Pasqualoni, who graduated from Cheshire (CT) High School and coached at Western Connecticut State University, is coming home. He will be named UConn football coach Friday at a 12:30 p.m. press conference in Storrs.
Pasqualoni, 61, will replace Randy Edsall, who left for the same position at the University of Maryland. Both have Syracuse University connections: Edsall as a player and Pasqualoni as a coach.
Terms of the contract were not available, but Pasqualoni will receive a five-year deal and the first year is expected to be between $1.5 million and $2 million for 2011. He will be UConn's 28th coach, the fourth in the past 25 years.
...snip...He spent 14 years as head coach at Syracuse, where he went 107-59-1 with nine bowl appearances (6-3) from 1991-2004.
