"In search of money, Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt planned to borrow $200 million from Fox to keep the club running. But commissioner Bud Selig rejected the proposal several weeks ago, according to a Los Angeles Times report.

McCourt proposed to use the Dodgers' cable TV rights as collateral, extending the team's current TV contract by as many as four years if he defaulted on the loan. Had McCourt not paid it back , Fox would have secured an extension with the Dodgers' rights at about $50 million per year.
McCourt, in the middle of a divorce, is exploring ways to manage a $430 million debt, as of November 2009, according to court papers."
