Orioles Sweep Astros at home
Edited on Wed Jun-15-05 09:17 PM by JohnKleeb
Oh and a team named the Yankees is losing to the Pirates and the Red Sox look to have it won against the Reds so it won't be a net gain but I aint complaining. Yankees came back and you know what I dont give a fuck, so they may get to 500 big deal, my Orioles have been at 500 and above since mid April, and for the Yanks 500 is something that they have to work for.

2. That was a nice come back I have to admit
Stupid Mesa and the Pirates but I shouldnt care since its meaningless to me, they're not in first place, we are, and the standings were uncahnged. Sure I love to see them lose but I dont cringe when they win anymore.

3. actually...
The Yankees got VERY lucky tonight with that missed call at first base..

the ball was CLEARLY in the glove..before the runner tagged the bag..if it had been called CORRECTLY as even the slow mo showed..it would have been a double play to end the inning..the game would not have been tied and the Pirates would have grabbed that one

The Yankees need to get down on their hands and knees tonight and thank the baseball gods for that wrong call at first because it pulled their fat out of the fire

4. I didnt see the game
Seems like they dodged a bullet, I have a feeling, they wont make the playoffs this year.

5. and they were unlucky on the same play
that ball was smoked and should have been a single. They've had enough of bad luck this year and plenty of calls have gone against them. Some of the incredibly hideous variety. So I don't want to hear about bad calls on a day that they made the plays when they needed to.

7. ...
but it does not change the plain and undeniable fact that they would have lost this game if it had not been for that blown call at first.

Even the NY sports reporters are commenting on it and for the Yankees to celebrate like they earned that win last night is truely pathetic for a team that used to be so good for so many years

8. oh please
they still had to get two hits to tie the game and then win the game. The media will never let pass a chance to crap on the Yankees. They done a lot to earn that this year, but last night was not one of those days.

12. They did win it by the rally
The pirates reliever whoever he was has to realize the pressure is not on him but on the Yanks in situations like those. The call sucks but doesnt happen if the Yankees dont get the guys on, well the Yankees dont rally and comeback. So well the call blew, the situation shouldnt have been allowed to happen. The Pirates should have won that game yesterday though, but they let it slip away, I dont really care though, I am having the best baseball year since elementary school, not only are the Orioles great but the Nationals are great too, and I think its great because hopefully in October, I wont have to root for a team whose not my own but I will be able to root for a team that is a team I root for in the year too. The Yanks though despite their victory still need to get back on track, I think they need either a really big winning streak or the Orioles to have a big losing streak *knock on wood* for that, the former could happen but the latter I dont see happening, the reason why the Orioles I think didnt pan out so great last year is because of losing streaks, its the middle of June this year and our worst losing streak is 3 games, long losing streaks can kill a season.

16. the O's
played crappy lately too. Its just the Yanks and Sox played crappy too. The Yanks had one 10 game streak. If they have another, they'll be right back in it. And there are a lot of games between the teams left.

14. Your sweep of course
We sweep the Reds and have this great opportunity to catch you guys but, nooooooo. You have to sweep, too.

So I say again...damn!

We have 4 games at Camden Yards just before the All Star break.

I have to be in DC late in September. If I'm lucky it'll be when the Sox play down there again. I'd love to see Camden Yards and to watch the Sox beat up on the O's (I'm a born optimist when it comes to my Sox) would be ideal.

How are the finals going?

Oh and about sweeping us, thats gonna happen when Jeffrey Meier enables me to punch him for 1996, :) and of course the same could be said for us sweeping you. DC that sounds cool, I am going to the game tommorow I hope with my folks, brothers, and a friend of my brother.

18. You were angry?
Ever seen a mad fourth grader, man I was pissed but I am over it, because I have never loved a baseball team like I have this year's Orioles, I think Wild Bill Hagy is actually back, you know the big bearded dude from the 70's at memorial stadium who did the O-R-I-O-L-E-S, I think hes back, which is sweet. Only thing thats really missing is the Earl and Cal, Earl never managed in my life time but hes one of my favorite managers of all time, I loved complaining about umps as a kid even if that ump was my dad, I think that same year as Meier btw is the year I let myself get hit on the back when Dad was umping.

22. It was nice for Cal's last game to be against the Sox
Because of the postponements in 2001 the O's and the Sox finished up against each other for Ripken's last game. I was glad I could watch it.

Who was the Baltimore catcher who's now the 3B coach? (At least I think that's him) I remember a rain delay where he went sliding all over the tarp. It was a riot.

23. I think youre confused
Rick Dempsey is our first base coach, yeah he was a riot, he used to put stuff in his shirt to make him look fat like Ruth and would do impersonations. Yeah the thing that bummed out though is that game ended with Cal on deck, stupid pitcher should have just let Cal hit one last time, it would have been nice to if he had a Ted Williamsque ending to his career. BTW speaking of Rick Dempsey when I got to go on the Norfolk Tides (AAA Mets) field when I was like 12, (my aunt was a GM for a local hotel and conneceted), I think he had a little resentment to me and my brother ha, but the players were real nice, I cant think of any of their names offhand, Ripken though he was my idol growing up though he was right handed all the way and a shortsop while I mostly did outfield, first base, and my love pitching. Too bad my pitching never really blossomed truly, I think I could have been a great HS pitcher, and now a guy from a school a few towns over is the Orioles 1st round pick, I envy him, but you know waht if I dont do my dream of political speechwriting, I Wanna cover sportsteams.

:) Dempsey, that's the dude.

I was disappointed Ripken didn't get up again, too.

Do you have one more year in HS? What are your plans for college? Any preferences yet?

10. You can include Toronto in that weird symmetry.
The teams in the Al East (not counting the D-Rays) have been keeping an uncanny pace relative to each other all season. They seem to surge and swoon as a group, with the rankings and spreads barely moving.

13. Sorry...didn't mean to overlook the Jays.
"They seem to surge and swoon as a group, with the rankings and spreads barely moving."

I haven't seen that dynamic with 3 or 4 teams. Even when the AL West was wild and wholly things would shake up quickly.
