“Sometimes, I think my name is ‘Arnold Palmer’s grandson,’ and not Sam Saunders, because people don’t really know my real name,” he said later. “But I’ve dealt with that for a long, long time, and I’m O.K. with that.”

"...This week, Saunders will have the opportunity to give golf fans a reason to remember his name. He has received the maximum seven sponsor exemptions into PGA Tour events both last year and this year mainly because he is Palmer’s grandson, not necessarily for his talent on the golf course.

But for the United States Open, he qualified on his own merits..."
