1. I don't know if the letter is real or not.

However, it wouldn't surprise me if the actions described were real. It also wouldn't surprise me if the actions were done by the old Baltimore Orioles. They were a rowdy bunch and not known for their politness, plus they were one of the the leading clubs that year, as were the Cleveland Spiders.

no one would have written that it had been said...it would have been alluded to, but the actual word wouldn't have been written out.
