Marlins make offer to McKeon to come back as interim manager...
Jack McKeon is the choice to be the Marlins' interim manager.

An announcement is expected early Monday. McKeon, 80, is expected to accept an offer to manage the team through the end of the year and will be the oldest manager in the majors.

After the season, the top candidates are expected to be White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen and possibly Bobby Valentine, a former Mets and Rangers skipper and current ESPN analyst.

This will be McKeon's second time taking over the the Marlins in the middle of a season. He was famously brought on in June 2003, taking the team from 16-22 all the way to an improbable World Series title. More recently, he had been working as a consultant with the team. Guillen was a third-base coach for McKeon's 2003 Marlins.

1. Florida Has Some Serious Managerial Issues
Now, they're going to bring back an 80 year old man to manage the club? Are they serious?

2. I'd say their issues are usually more ownership-related,
and not managerial.

But then again, with the slump they are currently in, who knows.

3. Loria
That's why owner Jeffrey Loria has been deemed "the Steinbrenner" of the south (without all the championships and winning seasons).

4. Haven't the Marlins won two World Series. Not bad considering it took the SF Giants 56 years
to win a World Series for their city.

7. Yeah
But Loria only was there for one of them. It's always nice to think back to the 1997 and 2003 playoffs, when Florida dispatched the Giants to advance to the NLCS.

6. Stengel hated the DH, also. Probably what led to his death.

9. "Hey, you kids get off my grass!"
Actually, I just saw an interview with him. For 80, he looked pretty good.
