Situation, hot hand, type of shot needed (2 or 3 pointer), etc. I'm more likely to draw up a play that goes to a lesser name who can shoot the ball well if I expect the superstar to receive intense pressure. With Lebron James, I'd probably run the play through him because he can find the open man. I wouldn't mind if he decides to shoot, the East finals against Detroit was probably the best clutch performance I ever seen by anyone and he made some game winning shots against Washington and one against Orlando. Anyways even with a number of missed shots you can point to, he can draw the double team and pass very well.
When it comes to needing a three-pointer or a 3-pointer to take the lead or win the game. I lean Kobe because he is a much better three pointer shooter than James. If I just had James, I'd probably rather have a shooter take the shot.
Anyways I prefer pure shooters to both. Ray Allen or Reggie Miller type. I'd also take a Dirk Nowitzki or Steve Nash. People who are really good shooters. Like I said it depends on the situation. If I was down by 1 or even 2 I'd like a post move or basket inside so in those cases I'd go to an Amare Stoudemire type.
