wow. Richards AND Carter sent packing. I remember the way Bolland, Ladd, Versteeg completely stuffed them in the finals a year ago, and they flamed out this year. I must admit not seeing much Eastern Conference hockey (it's usually 9:00 before I get settled in front of the TV), but this seems like a move "for the future", while with Briere, Timonen, Pronger are nearing the end.

The NHL is better when the Flyers are good. Best of luck.

BTW, this Hawks fan bids farewell to Troy Brouwer, a tireless worker who makes a place for himself with whomever he's on a line with. The Caps will be better because of him.

1. They brought in some players

Notably Bryzgalov. I wonder if bringing in those players caused them to get rid of those players?

Either way, it looks like they are shaking things up.

2. That's a good pick-up.

I don't think Leighton or Boucher are Cup-grade. Having Bryzgalov should settle things down a lot. I have a feeling that Laviolette will not be given time for a big re-build, after getting so close in 2010. Will see who they add for offense between now & Oct.
