Jeter Reaches 3,000 Hits With Home Run

Derek Jeter became the 28th player in baseball history to reach 3,000 hits on Saturday, with a home run in the third inning at Yankee Stadium off the Tampa Bay Rays’ David Price. In doing so, Jeter became the first player in the Yankees’ storied history to reach the hallowed number.

For Yankee haters, both Rivera and Rodriguez also pulled out of the ASG citing injuries. So please don't complain about a field full of Yankee starters.

That's rising to the moment. Five hits and a homer to get 3,000!

That's awfully cool. Only one other guy got his 3,000th as a homer (Boggs), and only one other guy went 5 for 5 on the day he got 3,000 (Biggio). Jeter did both. I kind of doubt that will happen again.

So, that was probably a true piece of sports history.
