Roster moves. Belichick referenced Ty Warren and Nick Kaczur as “tough” releases, saying both players gave the team “a lot of good football here” as they were “good players for a long time, really since their rookie year.” Belichick also mentioned Tully Banta-Cain and Alge Crumpler. “Unfortunately that’s part of what we do. You just have to move on,” he said.
Morning practice. The Patriots practiced in pads for the first time. “Good to be out here in pads. I thought we had a good work day this morning, and had a couple good lead-up days to it the last couple days. It’s certainly challenging to come out and practice in this heat and pads and all that, but I think still as football players, you look forward to getting out in pads and playing football. We did some of that today and that was what we needed.”
Haynesworth not yet ready to practice. Belichick said there are still things Haynesworth needs to do before he can practice, but did not specify when asked if the conditioning test was part of that.
Ochocinco and Twitter. In a light moment, Belichick was asked if he's mentioned to Ochocinco to tone down his Twitter activity. "That's not something I follow, as you know," he responded with a smile. "I don't Twitter, I don't MySpace, I don't Yearbook, I don't do any of those things, so I'd probably be the last to know."
