Players might have had Sunday off but team officials were hard at work, locking down a starting right tackle and adding some competition at the running back spot.
The Redskins will turn to a familiar face to play right tackle, agreeing to terms Sunday to re-sign Jammal Brown to a five-year deal.
Meanwhile, the team announced that it has acquired running back Tim Hightower from the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for veteran defensive end Vonnie Holliday and an undisclosed draft pick. The pick will be a conditional late-round pick that will be determined by Hightower's playing time, according to ESPN.
Hightower, 25, should instantly challenge Ryan Torain for the Redskins' starting running back job. He started for the Cardinals each of the past two seasons. Hightower, the Cardinals' fifth-round draft pick in 2008, had 736 yards and five touchdowns on the ground last year, averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

While his numbers may not be overly impressive, Arizona didn't run the ball often the last 2 years and often shared carries with Beanie Wells. He has great speed, can break one when given the opportunity which he did against Atlanta & Denver last year and against the Saints the year before. He has a little bit of problem going east & west rather than north or south but overall he is a good running back.
Edit-I forgot something that is important. Hightower is a very good receiver out of the backfield, probably his biggest asset to the team outside of his speed.
