Cubs Pitcher Carlos Zambrano Placed on Disqualified List, Won't Receive Pay for 30 Days
ATLANTA -- The Chicago Cubs have placed pitcher Carlos Zambrano on the disqualified list.

Zambrano cleaned out his locker and left the team after giving up five homers and being ejected from Friday night's 10-4 loss to the Braves. He did not return to the team Saturday.

General manager Jim Hendry said Saturday that Zambrano would receive no pay for 30 days and would have no activity with the club.

Hendry says Zambrano's actions, including a brush-back pitch to Chipper Jones that led to the ejection, are "intolerable."

1. I'm very surprised that this is the first thread about Z
The comments on CNN and MSNBC are what you'd expect (Braves fans call him a classless jerk and Cubbies are split). If I was his teammate I'd be pretty pissed at him. He hit a homer off a Red's pitcher last weekend (I think it was Johnny Cueto) and really rubbed it in his face.

3. Its too bad
I enjoyed his pitching. I am watching baseball for the first time this year for the entertainment. People say he is a hothead. What a waste to throw away his career because of his high emotions. What will he do with himself now if they don't let him come back, (not that he would try to, I don't know).

In his first public comments since a meltdown in Atlanta last week, Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano said he would like to pitch again for Chicago, and that he got caught up in a moment of frustration when he cleaned out his locker and threatened to retire.

Zambrano told Comcast SportsNet Chicago on Monday, that he wants to stay with the club that has "been to like family."
